In 1990, our founder Batul Loomans traveled to India in search of enlightenment. At the end of his life changing trip, he had a heavy bracelet made to remind himself to forever stay grounded mentally and physically. It worked.
What Batul experienced back then is called “Rebirth”, an essential belief of Buddhism. It’s the idea that a person is spiritually reborn throughout their life. Despite its origins in Buddhism, the idea of rebirth is not inherently spiritual. Everyone, even your stubborn uncle who is not at all spiritual, goes through different life phases. And every step of the way, his character and behavior evolved.
So, rebirth is part of the continuous process of change. In fact, we are not only reborn at the time of death, but born and reborn during different milestones in life. We believe you should celebrate them all. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Each phase holds incredible value in shaping who you are.

It will take a silversmith approximately 1,5 to 3 days to create a single bracelet. This may not sound very economical, but we at Buddha to Buddha pride ourselves that at a time where “real-time”, “direct delivery” and “swiftness” are valued buzz words, we don’t compromise. Maybe to some retailer’s regret, but our lead-times are not very likely to be shortened. Only if you understand the beauty and art of our jewelry, you will value and cherish every single, unique item that hits the shopfloor.
To give you an impression, we show and explain here how one of our icons - the Barbara braceletis made. The process of making a single bracelet is intensive and very inspiring to witness.
• A small long stretched piece of silver, about 10 by 1 cm is being flattened till it reaches a certain thickness.
• After that it’s pulled through a triangular shape until a neat triangle shape is created and soldered closed on the seam.
• This long thread of about 1 m is then wrapped around a tube with a certain diameter and sawn into little pieces, creating small links that are also sewn closed.
• The necessary amount of links all chained together is twisted in a long shape with a special handmade tool until it has the familiar flat triangular shape of the chain bracelet.
• The last part of the process is soldering the casted lock on the bracelet and polishing it to a high shine finish.
The quality of the imitation duplicates is in no way representative of the craftsmanship of the original pieces. Authentic or imitation?
Buddha to Buddha only sells the highest quality 925 silver with perfect finishing and we do not allow for anything less. Shops, webshops and online marketplaces that offer ‘Buddha to Buddha-like’, ‘Buddha to Buddha Style’ or ‘silver-plated Buddha to Buddha’ are just not selling you the genuine article.
Buddha to Buddha jewelry is all handmade in Southeast Asia. Every piece is crafted by a silversmith. Imitation Buddha to Buddha products are usually developed in China under poor conditions. Imitation items are made from alpaca with only a silver coating. Therefore they feel heavier but the silver plating may change colour or cause an adverse reaction on your skin. In some cases it could detach from the product.
Buddha to Buddha owns a factory on Bali. This is closed for the public and NOT possible to visit. Guided tours to “Buddha to Buddha factories” are offered locally but are not in any way associated with Buddha to Buddha or our dealers in Bali.
If you want to buy a second hand piece online, please do so cautiously. Have a good look at the available pictures from the seller and when in doubt always ask for more. If you only receive pictures that come from the original Buddha to Buddha website, view this as suspicious and same goes for blurry photos. Demand the original purchase receipt or a copy from their point of sales.

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and is sometimes referred to as ‘pure silver’. The remaining 7.5% is usually copper but can be other metal and is used to give this precious metal strength and durability. Silver which is 99.9% silver is too soft to be practical for most day to day uses. The value of silver as a precious metal has long been considered second only to gold. The word ‘sterling’ has been used to mean high quality silver since the 13th century. Our jewelry made of sterling silver is marked .925 instead of the word sterling, which is more common to UK brands.
Silver has an attractive shiny appearance, although it tarnishes relatively easily. The tarnish is silver sulphide and forms as the silver reacts with sulphur compounds in the atmosphere. To help prevent this, it is recommended that silver be stored in airtight containers. Silver is strong, malleable and ductile and is the best reflector of visible light known. It can endure extreme temperature ranges, making it an ideal material from which to make fine jewelry.
Oxidized sterling silver jewelry is produced when atomic oxygen reacts with silver. The silver has a smoky look after it has gone through this chemical
treatment making it darker and its finish less sparkling than untreated sterling silver. As its popularity grows, more and more of our jewelry is being produced in oxidized sterling silver due to its unique colour and finish, making it an attractive alternative for anyone who loves wearing sterling silver jewelry.
• Bright sterling silver does tarnish naturally over time but can be cleaned very easily. Be sure to clean the silver only and avoid contact with any stones, as the polish may cause damage to them. A soft cleaning cloth is an effective and inexpensive way to keep your silver pieces shining.
• Keep silver jewelry out of air and light when stored to prevent tarnishing. Our protective jewelry pouch, a lined good quality jewelry box or just wrapping in tissue or soft cloth are all suitable. Each piece of jewelry should be stored in a separate compartment to prevent scratching as a result of pieces knocking together. Gemset jewelry will undoubtedly contain gemstones which are harder than silver and will therefore scratch the surface of the silver if allowed to jangle together. This holds true for gold as well.
• Remove all silver jewelry before showering or cleaning. Soap can cause a film to form on silver jewelry, making it appear dull and dingy. Be particularly careful of chlorine, especially at high temperatures, as it can permanently damage or discolour your silver jewelry. Avoid wearing silver jewelry while using chlorine, bleach or while in a pool or hot tub. Also remove your jewelry when carrying out cleaning or other chores. Cleaning fluids can damage both the silver and gemstones.
• Water dries up leather, makes it crack and less flexible. Make sure that none of our bracelets, also the leather ones, are not worn in water!
• Remember to put your jewelry on after applying make-up and / or hairspray and avoid contact with perfume.
• Remove all jewelry before entering a chlorinated pool and before going to the beach. Sand will scratch the surface of silver. If you’re contemplating a sauna, remove all jewelry as it will burn you when it heats up. Many gemstones are damaged by prolonged exposure to heat.
• The most common tarnish-causing elements are wool, felt, food, rubber bands, latex gloves and certain paints. Oily salts from fingers can also tarnish silver. Tarnish is accelerated in a humid environment.
• You can remove light tarnish by washing up liquid and water. Carefully brush with a soft bristle brush, such as an old toothbrush. After brushing, simply rinse with lukewarm water and allow to dry. Frequent light cleanings are preferable to waiting until the tarnish gets so stubborn that more abrasive polishes have to be employed. Be particularly careful when attempting to clean any silver jewelry set with gemstones, as some stones require special cleaning procedures.
• Looking after your oxidized sterling silver jewelry. Any piece of oxidized sterling silver will be prone to wear, as it is a surface patina. This can appear as a rather charming “vintage” look to your item and the oxidized finish can be re-applied if you wish. Please contact your local silversmith/ jeweller if you wish to arrange for an item to be reoxidized. For general day-to-day care the colour can be maintained by using a light wax such as a colourless furniture polish / beeswax which should be gently applied with a soft cloth and any residue carefully polished off. Please be sure only to use a soft cloth that is not impregnated with any kind of jewelry cleaning substance as this will further remove the oxidation.
