ADMISSIONS CHECKLIST Belmont gives credit where it’s due. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to transfer here and complete your degree. Belmont will accept up to 64 credits from an accredited two-year

Candidates With No College Credit or Less Than 24 Hours of Transferable College Credit: Contact your high school to have your high school or GED transcripts sent to Belmont University’s Office of Admissions through Parchment (if your school participates), or you may have an official hard copy sent directly to Belmont University’s Office of Admissions.

An ACT or SAT score is also required. If you took the ACT or SAT at any point, have your high school include the test score with your transcript or have the testing center send us your score.

o Application Fee:

You must pay a $35 non-refundable application fee with your application materials. You will submit this online.

o Official Transcripts:

Belmont requires official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. You will need to request an official transcript from the Registrar’s Office for each school you attended.

You may submit your official transcript(s) electronically through Parchment (if your school participates) or you can have all transcripts sent directly to Belmont University’s Office of Admissions.

o Recommendation Form:

Email the confidential recommendation form (from the online application process) to someone who knows you well (i.e. a professor/advisor from the most recent school you attended, an employer or your pastor), but not a relative. The person will submit the form online.

o Personal Essay:

Submit a personal essay through the online application process (maximum of two pages typewritten) describing how the program will assist you in your personal and/or professional aspirations.

o Life Experience Requirement:

Applicants should be 24 years or older, however, those under the age of 24, are required to demonstrate, through the application process, that they have achieved appropriate levels of maturity, including significant ability to recognize their own strengths and weaknesses and develop appropriate action plans to challenge themselves in these areas. This demonstration might include evidence of military service, marriage or having a family of your own, or being a Nashville Ballet dancer.

o When all your materials have been

received in the Admissions Office at Belmont, the Admissions Committee will review your materials, make a decision and send you a letter regarding your status.

Classes are located in 10 main buildings with the library and other facilities lying in close proximity to the classrooms. Work downtown and want to take a class on your lunch hour at the main campus? No problem! As a nontraditional student at Belmont University, you can choose from a variety of course options at our main campus, including daytime classes, full-term evening classes or our 8-week evening classes that meet one night a week.

BU–Williamson County 310 Billingsly Court Franklin, TN 37067-4624 Belmont University –Williamson County is centered between Franklin and Brentwood in the heart of the Cool Springs business community and is a fully accredited extension of Belmont University’s main campus. Live or work in Williamson County and want to take classes a few nights a week? BU– Williamson County offers 8-week and some full-term evening classes during the fall and spring semesters.

WELL Core Belmont helped me make a difference.

In addition to the academic requirements, all students at Belmont University participate in the award-winning WELL Core program.

These out-of-class requirements, necessary for graduation, include a variety of professional, cultural and spiritual experiences that allow you to maintain a well-rounded perspective on life and give back to your community.

Belmont’s adult students are recognized for their diverse experiences, and they are able to receive WELL Core credit for many of their personal and professional activities by submitting a short paper, called the Portfolio Method, for WELL Core credit.

Five categories comprise the WELL Core program: Occupational/Financial WellBeing, Intellectual Well-Being, Spiritual Well-Being, Interpersonal/Emotional WellBeing, Cultural Well-Being and Community Well-Being Through Service. Transfer students’ requirements are pro-rated based on the number of academic hours that transfer. The following chart identifies Belmont’s WELL Core requirements.

FINA NCIA L A ID We understand the financial aid process can be daunting. The major sources of aid for adult students include: Federal Stafford Loans, Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants and Federal Perkins Loans. You may apply for federal student aid from these programs at no cost by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Belmont’s Student Financial Services office (SFS) provides counselors to assist you with information about grants, loans and other payment options.
