Important Dates.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR In the lead up to the show we have a few important dates for you to mark in your calendars. Some of these points will be expanded on as we move through information.
20th of June
TICKET SALE Mid Year concert tickets for "Blessed Be" go on sale. Tickets are available to purchase at Ticketek.com.au . Tickets are $47.85 each. If you would like for your child to watch the show with you they will need to purchase a ticket. This is a safety regulation set by Panthers.
18th - 23rd of July
Week 1 of Term 3 This week marks the return of Term 3. The classes during this time are very important to attend as these will be our last lessons to perfect our routines. If you are unwell and cannot make it to any classes it's very important to let us know by calling the studio on (02) 4577 9557.

23rd of July
EXTRA REHEARSAL There will be one additional class for our Mini's Tuesday and Thursday students which will be taking place on the morning of Saturday 23rd July. This time will be spent bringing all the classes together to run their routines and ensure formations are working correctly before we head to the important dress rehearsal with all cast members at Off Centre.
23rd of July
DRESS REHEARSAL/ PARENTS MEETING Our parents meeting will commence at 11am where we will go through a quick Q&A session and some additional information for show day. During the meeting time our Mini's will stay with their coaches to get changed into their first costume for the dress rehearsal starting at 11:30am.
24th of July
CONCERT DAY It's the special day! Soak it up ... every moment. Cherish these memories. For some this will be your first time in a live show at Off Centre or maybe your first show ever! For all of you this is your time to shine and showcase everything that you have been working hard for in your classes each week. We are so proud of our Minis and we can't wait to see your beautiful smiley faces on stage.
Extra Saturday Rehearsal
All Mini's Needed for Dress Rehearsal Saturday 23rd July
With the concert only a few weeks away it is very important that we have all our Mini's at our dress rehearsal. On this page is all the information you will need to know about this day.
When will the extra rehearsal be? Dress rehearsal for Mini's will be on the 23rd of July and will be held at the studio. All Mini's students will be required to attend the Saturday Mini's class for week 1. Class is from 10:15am to 11:15am. This will be the first time all 3 classes will dance together. We will then have a full show rehearsal with all of our cast members. This will be a full dress rehearsal and will start at 11:30am.
When will costumes be handed out? Costumes will be handed out on the 23rd of July at the extra rehearsal. You will take your costumes home afterwards to pack your bags for the concert the following day.
What do I need to have for dress rehearsal? Dress rehearsal is a very exciting time. Below are all the things you will need. Please make sure you have: Your costumes. (these will be handed out in the Mini's classes before the full dress rehearsal will start) All your shoes (Black Jazz shoes, Black Tap Shoes and Pink Ballet Shoes) Hair in a Half up Half Down style. Make up for dress rehearsal is not required.

CONCERT HAIR For our concert Mini's will need to wear their hair in a half up half down style. Please make sure hair is neat and tidy. Starting at the top of the ears create a part to the crown of the head. Please make sure the hair is tight and slick with no fly aways. Please use a hair tie that is close to the colour of your childs hair. Page 6
CONCERT MAKE-UP For the concert day our Mini's will need to wear light stage make up. A light base of foundation. (BB Cream is acceptable) Brown base eye shadow. Light amount of Black mascara. and Red Lipstick (best to wait until the last minute for this part). Please remember when applying foundation you want to have the correct shade for your childs skin tone. Please make sure you blend into their neck also. If you have any troubles with make-up please email us.
DOES MY CHILD NEED TO WEAR MAKEUP? Short answer is Yes. When doing a performance to the level of an Off Centre Dance Co show there are elements such as Lighting and Screens which play a big part in the over all look of the show. Wearing a light stage make up is necessary for all students when performing on stage. The strong stage lighting will wash out your childs face for both the live show and also the video memory created with the show. The goal of wearing makeup is not to make your child look older or more mature... It's there to frame their facial features. If we do not take this important step in performing we will only see a cute costume with a washed out complexion. Page 7
Concert Day Sunday 24th July
Below is the inside scoop on how concert day will run with a timeline so that you can plan accordingly and be set up for success.
Concert Day Runsheet: 8:30am - Bump In (for all helpers). 9:00am - Advanced, Seniors and Pre Senior students arrival time. 11:00am - Intermediate and Pre Intermediate students arrival time. 11:45am - Junior, Boys Only, Cheer and Acro students arrival time. 12:45pm - Pre Junior and Adult students arrival time. 1:15pm - Break Time. 1:15pm - Mini's Arrival Time. 1:30pm - All Students Meeting on Stage. 1:45pm - Full Show Run (Correct Footwear required, Uniform only). 4:15pm - Pick up for Dinner. 5:00pm - Lockdown (Get Ready) . 6:00pm - IT'S SHOWTIME.

Our concert day rehearsal is a CLOSED Rehearsal. This means that there is to be students only within the venue. As a Mini's parents you have special rules. Mini's parents are asked to stay within the concert venue with them throughout the rehearsal. We ask that you find a seat towards the back of the venue and enjoy watching the rehearsal while helping us keep our Mini's entertained when waiting for their turn on stage. Lockdown is the time when all students are to be in the change room. We allow 1 helper per student backstage (please note this is a females only change room so helpers/parents MUST be female only) We have 1 hour to get our Mini's ready. This includes Hair and Make Up. Please note that this is the only time all students/teachers have to get themselves ready also so it's important to have a parent/helper per mini to get them ready.

10 TIPS to Make Your First Concert One to Remember Most dance parents understand that a dance recital is an opportunity for your little ones to display all of their hard work, dedication, and progress they have made throughout the dance year. However, for the first-time dance parent preparing yourself and your dancer for a successful concert can be a bit overwhelming. Here are 10 of our favourite dance concert tips to help you be prepared for the best concert experience and eliminate any feelings that may have you overwhelmed.
Number One.
Attend all Rehearsals As it gets closer to recital time, it is important to be at as many rehearsals as you can. With the concert being on the 24th of July all our Mini's will have an extra rehearsal held at Off Centre Dance Co on 23rd of July. This will be the first time all 3 Mini's classes will get to release together. If you cannot make a rehearsal, please inform the dance studio via email or phone. Number Two.
Practise, practise, practise Practice makes better. There is no such thing as practicing too much. I am sure you have asked your dancer to share their recital dances with you and they have responded in a way that says “no way.” If your dancer is not willing to practice in your presence, don't get upset. This is normal. However, there are things that you can do to ensure that your dancer is practicing at home. Play their concert music in their room. Your little one will practice independently. STAY CONNECTED WITH OTHERS Staying connected with the dance moms and dads in your dance class is essential. As a first time dance parent or caregiver, the entire production of a dance concert can sometimes be overwhelming. You will be thankful for the support that your dance family will provide to you. Remember you are a team and teamwork makes the dream work. Over the next few weeks, you all will be getting pretty close. Enjoy building new relationships!
10 TIPS to Make Your First Concert One to Remember Number Four.
COSTUME TIPS AND TRICKS Getting your costumes is such an exciting moment. Costumes often come with accessories, such as hair pieces or gloves. It is so important to keep the accessories and the corresponding costume together. Place your costumes in zip lock bags with your dancer’s name on the front. Take your time and double check you have the correct costume and accessories in your bag. Flesh tone/nude garments are to be worn under costumes. These undergarments provide coverage to eliminate any discomfort when changing costumes in the presence of other dancers. These undergarments are also great solutions for quick changes backstage. On the day of the recital, secure your dancer’s hair accessories by criss crossing bobby pins through their hair and the hair accessory. Please make sure that all finger/toes nail polish is taken off before concert day. All costumes are to be returned before leaving the concert. Please place them back into your zip lock bag and returned into the storage tub and get your name marked off by one of our helpers.
Number Five.
Label your Childs shoes A typical dance class can have as many as 15 to 20 students. Imagine what would happen if the dancers did not have their dance supplies labeled with
their name. The likelihood of things getting mixed up or misplaced is very high.
"we don't want to misplace anything" Be proactive and label everything. Yes, everything. Including dance shoes, make up, dance bags, garment bags, snacks, games, books, tablets, phones. etc.
Number Six.
pack snacks, water & games Having access to snacks and water backstage is extremely important. As always, healthy snacks are going to boost their energy and not make them sleepy or lethargic. Dancers who perform more than one dance may have a significant downtime in between their dances. Thus, it is essential for the dancer to stay energized, but of course not too energized. Pack non-messy foods: dried fruit, granola bars, cheese and crackers, chips, and sandwiches. Once you connect with the other dance parents, make sure you ask about food allergies. Avoid, avoid, avoid soda and juice! Pack water. Sugary drinks do not have the best impact on children that have to sit in a room. You also do not want to risk your dancer showing up on stage with a bright orange

Pack activities that you know your child will use and enjoy to keep themselves entertained. This may be a tablet, puzzles, iPod, reading books, coloring books, stuff animals, card games, or a phone. The concert will be played on a big screen in the change room for all students to watch. Having some form of entertainment will help shorten the time.

On the night before the show, take the time to check and recheck that everything is packed. Yes, you will be

Performing on a brightly lit stage in front of a lot of people can be very scary. Start talking with your dancer now. Encourage them to do their best and to keep dancing no matter what. Yes, this means even if they forget a step or two, they will know to continue to dance because you took the time to teach them this important lesson. Remind them to have fun. A dance concert is a celebration to show how much progress your child has made during the dance season. If this is your first dance concert, you are probably more nervous than your dancer. So, remember take a deep breath and enjoy the show and watch your little blossom on that stage.

capture memories of the event Our memories in the form of photos and videos will last a lifetime. So, remember to take as many pictures and videos as you can. It is going to be so exciting to see how much your child has progressed in the short time they have been a student. Make good use of dress rehearsal and the time backstage to
document your memories. A big reminder is NO PHOTOS OR VIDEOS ARE TO BE TAKEN INSIDE THE DRESSING ROOM. All photos and videos are to be taken outside the change room doors. Now, what I am about to say next is also very important so repeat after me.
"I will not take pictures or videos of my dancer while they are performing on stage.” For the safety and privacy of the dancers performing on stage, flash photography is prohibited. Little Fun Fact! Did you know that a flash from a camera in the audience has the power to temporarily blind a dancer, putting them in a compromising position that increasing their risk of injury? This is why all cameras are to be switched off during the performance.

What happens on the day of concert regarding Lunch Breaks? We suggest that you pack snacks and have plenty of hydration for the day. No students will be permitted to leave the venue and no external fast food is allowed inside. We will not have a set break for lunch.
Do I need to come back stage and help my child get ready/changed? Yes, One helper is permitted backstage (Female Only) Please make sure that they are ready as fast as possible after their routine..
Are they allowed to sit in the audience? Should your child want to sit in the audience they will be able to do so however they will be required to have a ticket to do so. It will be very entertaining for them to see the older students perform!
If they stay in the change room what happens during the show? There is a live stream of the concert in the main change room and there will be supervision overall for the students.
Can they go for dinner before the show? Our Minis can be taken for dinner before the lockdown commences. Please plan accordingly as the bistro and restaurants are usually very busy.

Who does hair and make-up and when? Hair and make-up can be completed by yourself or the students helper during the lockdown period. We recommend putting the red lipstick on as the final step as close to show time as possible and after the Mini's are in their first costume for the show.
How long is the concert? We estimate the show to be 2.5 hours long. "Blessed Be" will be shining a spotlight on all of our amazing cast members and we have put together something amazing that will make you proud to be a part of the Off Centre family.
Where do I direct my questions on concert day? Our team are all available during show day to navigate any questions or concerns. Please note that a lot of the team also dance in the show so some of us may only be available for windows of time. Please do not approach Ryan N on the day as he will be coordinating sound, lighting and the overall show..
Can parents stay and watch rehearsal on the day? Minis parents can remain in the auditorium during the rehearsal to look after and entertain the little ones around their routines. It is recommended that you stay for this time so that you can navigate any questions. If you are unable to stay with your Mini student please let us know prior to the day so that we can plan for sufficient supervisioin during the rehearsal time.
