Digitalisation is changing business models in the sector
Digitalisation is changing business models in the sector, the skills needs of its workers, and the ways people engage with culture
Cultural sectors have long been at the vanguard of digitalisation, developing new models for production and consumption that are then mainstreamed across other sectors. New technologies have democratised ways to engage with culture and opened up new opportunities for CCS entrepreneurs, and in fact citizens, to disseminate content to larger audiences and reach new markets. The lock-down periods have prompted many CCS businesses, free-lancers and cultural institutions to further embed digital dissemination in their business models to maintain and, in fact, expand their audiences. After the pandemic hybrid models are likely to remain providing opportunities to further reduce barriers to cultural participation.
