Ketosteril is generally known as Compound α­Ketoacid Tablets and it is used for preventing and treating renal damages due to protein metabolism disorder in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the effects are better with low­protein diets.

Ketosteril can supply amino acids and at the same time reduce urea production as well as protein­related metabolic wastes and toxins so as to lower high creatinine and BUN, alleviate uremic state and improve nutritional state.  L­lysine monoacetate ­ 105 mg;  Leucine α­keto analog (methyl 4­oxo­2­calcium valerinate) ­ 101 mg;  Valine α­keto analog (methyl­oxo­2­calcium butyrate) 86 mg;  Phenylalanine α­keto analog (oxo­2­phenyl­3­calcium propionate) ­ 68 mg;  Isoleucine α­keto analog (DL­methyl­oxo­2­calcium valerinate) ­ 67 mg;  Methionine α­hydroxy analogue (DL­hydroxy­2­calcium methylbutyrate) ­ 59 mg;  L­threonine ­ 53 mg;  L­histidine ­ 38 mg;  L­tyrosine ­ 30 mg;  L­tryptophan ­ 23 mg.
