CASTING CALL Odd Arts are currently looking for two young male actors aged over 18 with a playing age of 14-16, to play two lead roles in a short film, and to act in accompanying Forum Theatre workshops, which will be used as a tool for young people to explore Cyber Crime, and specifically how and why coding and hacking within gaming can lead to more serious Cyber related offences. At Odd Arts we strive to have a team that reflects and understands the diverse communities we work with; actors of all ethnicities are welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in hearing from actors who are from ethnic backgrounds that experience racism. The roles we are casting for are: (*please note the work is still in development at the time of the casting call and character descriptions are subject to further development) MALE 1 (14-16): Shy underneath a mask of ‘bravado’, isolated and doesn’t really feel he fits in at school or at home, often resulting in challenging behaviour. He has an interest in gaming and an exceptional talent at Mathematics. MALE 2 (15 – 16): Confident, playful and caring, with a kind attitude towards others. Has found a community/ tribe online, already an advanced coder, likes to push himself, and keen to develop a career in Tech. To Apply: ● ● ●

Please send a show-reel; or a short self-tape of a monologue/ speech of your choice, of no longer than one minute long Please also send a CV or short summary of your acting experience to date, along with letting us know if you’re interested in playing Male 1, 2 or both. Alternately, if you’re also interested in our separate casting call for male actors of the same playing age for short films about healthy relationships and Domestic Abuse, you can send the self-tape requested within that casting call to apply for both projects (see Odd Arts social media channels for more details) by the deadline specified below

Applications (including WeTransfer download links for large video files) should be sent to tess@oddarts.co.uk By no later than Monday 5th July at 5pm Both roles will include 3 full days filming, from 20 -22 July (please ensure you can be available for filming before applying) , with rehearsal dates are yet to be confirmed, and further opportunities to act in forum theatre based workshops within school and community settings to explore the work with young people. Successful applicants will need to be willing to be DBS checked or already have a Enhanced Disclosure certificate.
