Patient #1

• Brigadier General Richard Freeman was used to flying fighter jets at Mach 2. He was also an inventor and entrepreneur.

• Gen. Freeman was diagnosed with Advanced Macular Degeneration and could no longer fly, drive, manage his business or see his grandchildren.

• Unable to accept his life without vision, he challenged his sons to find a way to fix this dreadful disease.

Founders

• Brothers Michael and Mitch Freeman Invented “streaming mobile video” in the 90s, which became foundation for IEEE 802.11(n) MIMO standards.

• The Freemans old their technology and IP to Samsung in the 2000s – which is still is used when we send videos, use Facetime, Zoom, and 4G

• 100+ combined patents in several scientific fields

• Founded Ocutrx to correct their father’s AMD and ended up finding the solution to many problems faced by AR companies.

What’s the problem?

Advanced Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a central vision disease affecting 200 million worldwide –and growing exponentially.

“Not only am I losing everything for myself, but I am also becoming a burden to my family & friends.”
-Linda, AMD patient

The Solution:

•Lightest weight and tetherless

•Indoor & outdoor use

•Widest field-of-view

•Patented hardware and software

•SaaS allows communication with doctor

•Wifi and cellular connectivity

•Offers magnification, contrast adjustment, and streaming text. Restores user independence

•Relinquishes caretaker responsibility

Commercialization scheduled late 2025

Another Problem: Traditional Loupes used by surgeons

• Unergonomic: Traditional Loupes are unergonomic, and cause Surgeons to need neck and back surgery themselves, some being forced to retire early.

• Analog: Fixed magnification, no connectivity options; not digital

• Costly: Ranging in price from $1,500 to $10,000. Surgeons often have multiple pairs.

Traditional Optical Loupes for medical & non-medical applications

The Solution:

✓ Optimized Ergonomics

✓ Adjustable Magnification

✓ All Digital

Unique Features

Self Contained: Wireless, tetherless, and handsfree. Hot swap battery allows battery to be changed without disrupting surgery feed.

Cinematic View: 5K and 8K resolution. Widest Field-of-View. 3D stereoscopic imaging.

All Digital: 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for telesurgery.

Adjustable Magnification: Up to 20x adjustable zoom for unprecedented visualization of surgery site.

Ergonomic. Downward-facing cameras allow the surgeon to look forward while the headset looks down.

Problems in the OR

• Poor Ergonomics • Space Constrains • Inferior Resolution
