“One day during a particularly boring class, I was thinking about what I should do for this prompt and suddenly I became hungry. I was craving ramen that day and remembered a restaurant that served ichran ramen in booths. It reminded meofthosebusinessclassseatsonaplaneandthat'swhereIgotmyinspiration. Then when I started sketching my plane I realized the front of the plane looked like a rat face and when I was closely examining the window I realized the cockpit should be the kitchen because I had no where else to put it. Then I decided the plane should be a stationary piece of architecture and made the wingsintolargecoolwindows. TheEnd.”

“I really liked the idea of two contrasting things existing within the same space, and two things I thought of was calmness and chaos. I also wanted to contrast modern with vintage, and I thought there was no better way to do that than to show a calm, modern art gallery with a secret entrance to a 1920‘s themed speakeasy.”

“Because it is a nature-themed house I thought it would be pretty neat to just make it a tree house. I wanted to stick to organic shapes to keep up the natural aesthetic of the whole thing, so that’s why it sort of looks like a figure 8.”

“Inspired by the latest book I’ve been reading. (The School for Good and Evil.) I wanted to draw Agatha’s house on top of a hill by a graveyard. The house lies at the edge of the dark wood, and I wanted it to have overgrown foliage and nature, as well as add a few easter eggs from the movie and the series.”

This work shows a sci-fi type of building that is being run and over grown by nature. The once-futuristic building now stood as a relic of the past, its sleek lines and metallic surfaces now covered in a lush blanket of greenery. Vines snaked their way up the walls, their leaves filtering sunlight that streamed through shattered windows.

“This is a small apartment complex, about 3 stories tall with only 11 rooms. For the movement aspect I based it off of a rubik‘s cube so the levels can all rotate around.”

CREATE A SPACE, OR BUILDING, THAT HARNESSES ENERGY TOWARD A SPECIFIC DIRECTION.

“The modern storage container would contain heat deflecting windows and have solar panels on the roof to give the space energy, and power the space. [It can be used] for electricity: from a microwave to an air conditioner. ”

“On the outside you would most likely think this a bear factory. However, this building is supposed to be a hospital for children, and I wanted to draw something different but also fun that would welcome patients.”

“A building that looks like a plant. The leaves are solar panels and they power the building. There is a central tower, that also is a part of the building. There will be an eco-outdoor area with trees, greenery, and foliage.”

INSTAGRAM THIS SEMESTER THIS SEMESTER OUR

Our instagram wasn’t as active as last semester. Since our primary audience were high school students the second semester tends to be far busier and so we shifted our remindersfrominstagramtogoogleclassroom.Thischange allowedustobetterreachouraudienceduringahectictime oftheyear.ByleveragingGoogleClassroom, wewereableto engagedirectlywithhighschoolstudentsinaplatformthey frequentlyusefortheiracademicneeds.Ourshiftinstrategy not only helped us adapt to the busier season but also ensured that our messages were reaching our target audience effectively. As a result, we saw increased participation and interaction from students, fostering a stronger connection and sense of community within our onlinepresence.

WEBSITE OUR THIS SEMESTER

Our website this semester remained relatively the same since last semester. There are so many pieces of great artwork and design from our club members who used their style to embody our prompts. Another thing that is up and running is our store where you can buy and get our magazine shipped to your home. We wanted this to be an option on top of the free online viewing because 100% of the sales made from this magazine are donated to multiple Architecturally related Charities such as ArchiteXX, a nonprofit working towards equal opportunity in the Architecture and Design industry for everyone, as well as United Way of Greater Los Angeles helps people most affected by the housing crisis in California.

Editor-in-Chief,
Founder,& President

Ocsa Arc sprouted as a bright idea back in my freshman days, and wow, it's blossomed beautifully this year! This Semester was even more successful than the last. Crafting and constructing have always been my jam, so curating this magazine was an absolute hoot. Witnessing the Ocsa crew unleash their creativity in response to our challenges was simply mind-blowing. Juggling graphic design, brainstorming prompts with Kai, and hosting weekly gigs for Ocsa Arc was no walk in the park, but the sheer dedication and talent of the students made it all worth it. Dreaming big, I aim to take Ocsa Arc on a wild expansion ride beyond our school walls someday. But for now, wrapping up this epic semester leaves me in awe of the boundless creativity and innovation buzzing within these hallways! Cheers to this year’s Ocsa Arcandtomanymoretocome.
Kaiden Orozco Head of Social Media & Vice PresidentCreating a vibrant and artsy vibe in an architecture setting, especially at an art school, is like catching a shooting star - thrilling and oh-so-magical! Being the cool Vice President of Ocsa Arc, I co-piloted our club meetings and rocked our social media by dishing out polls, solving mysteries, and more. Ocsa was born from a brilliant chat between me and Anvi in ninth-grade English class when we realized our shared love for architecture. This year, we brought our dream to life, and I'm buzzing to watch it bloom alongside the magazine in the upcoming semester!
