Commissioners Halt Route 589 Rezonings By DAVID BOHENICK Contributing Writer he Worcester County Commissioners unanimously voted in favor of imposing a year-long moratorium focused on new rezoning applications along Route 589 at the Sept. meeting held in Snow Hill. Commissioners unanimously agreed to freeze rezoning applications along Route 589, also known as Racetrack Road, for 12 months, or until they vote to rescind the resolution. The decision has no effect on development starting or continuing within areas that have established zoning classifications. The decision was made over a month after an applicant withdrew their request to rezone 14.72 acres of R2 suburban residential land into R3 multi-family residential land along the state route in mid-July. The applicants also proposed building a townhouse community, raising the property’s maximum density
