he hotel Intourist Kazbegi can be found at the foot of the 5,047-meter-high Kazbegi Mountain, the third-highest peak in Georgia and the eighth highest in the Caucasus region. German architects and engineers, who built the hotel in 1960, chose this prime location that would provide an ideal view of all of Kazbegi’s main sights. Both Georgians and foreign tourists preferred the Intourist Kazbegi hotel for decades, which unfortunately stopped operating in the 90s due to the political situation in the country.
