Will I tell you a secret about Croke Park?

Lots of mice live there.

There are thirty-two mice, one from each county in Ireland.

And they have a bainisteoir who tries to keep them in order when they get out of hand!

His name is Crokey.

The Croke Park Mice live under the stands.

They watch every match from their tiny mouse holes.

Under the Hogan Stand is where they gather their food.

Delicious bits of food fall down through the cracks where the mice pick them up – YUM!

At night, the mice go to bed underneath the Davin Stand.

Do you want to hear another secret?

When there are no games happening in Croke Park, the MICE play their own games there.

Right out in the middle of the pitch.

Crokey marks out a tiny little pitch in the middle of the HUGE Croke Park pitch.

That’s the mouse pitch.

He trains them and is always trying to get them to play better.

He makes them practise hard.

Today was a special day at Croke Park.

It was the All-Ireland Final. Kilkenny and Cork were going to play.

The mice woke early with all the excitement.

They put on their county jerseys and raced up the pipes to the top of the Hogan Stand.

They heard the buses driving in and the car horns beeping.

Thousands of people came, laughing, cheering and waving flags.

They were wearing their county colours too.

There was a delicious smell of burgers and chips in the air.
