


















5. Prescribed medicines will only be administered prior to the expiry date.
6 No medication may be given without these details being provided:
• full name of child and date of birth
• name of medication and strength
• who prescribed it
• dosage to be given
• how the medication should be stored and expiry date
• any side effects that may be expected should be noted; and
• signature, printed name of parent and date
7 Medicines are kept out of reach of children and are stored in a locked non-portable container, located in the medical room Medication such as inhalers are kept on high shelving in the child’s classroom
8 Written records are kept of all medicines administered to children, and parents sign the record book to acknowledge the entry
9. With written authorisation, Nursery staff will apply nappy cream and sun cream provided by a child’s parent/carer.
10 If the administration of prescription medicines requires technical/medical knowledge, then individual training is provided to staff from a qualified health professional Training is specific to the individual child concerned
11 If rectal diazepam is given, another member of staff must be present, who will co-sign the record book
12 We will administer medication such as inhalers on a long-term basis on completion by the parent of the appropriate form
13 The use of long-term medication will be reviewed regularly with parents
14 No child may self-administer Where children can understand when they need medication, for example with asthma, they should be encouraged to tell their Key Person/ Reception Class Teachers what they need However, this does not replace staff vigilance in knowing and responding when a child requires medication
Morning and Twilight Club term time only for Reception children
The Reception children are welcome to attend the Morning Club from 8 00am in the Prep School Hall After school, the children can attend the Twilight Club, and an afternoon tea will be served, such as beans on toast, sandwiches or a jacket potato Please note that the Twilight Club has an additional fee as follows:
Session 1 £5 00 from 3 40pm to 4 45pm
Session 2 £5 00 from 4 45pm to 6 00pm
These additional fees will be added to your bill. For catering purposes, please sign your child up to the Twilight Club by emailing prep@akslytham com
Parent Ambassadors
Parent Ambassadors are elected every year by the parents, and they meet with Mrs Ilhan once a term to discuss pertinent issues in the Nursery and Prep School Two -way communication between the school and the Parent Ambassadors is of utmost importance to us
