The Big Break Visitor Center is an innovative 5,000 square foot building with a unique focus – science education; enhanced awareness of the Delta ecosystems; and California history. The Center is home to interpretive exhibits and a science lab. It is the first new visitor center the Park District has built in 38 years.

When fully operational, Park District interpretive staff will offer both public and school-related programs for all ages. The center is the only educational facility located on the Delta for the exclusive study of this complex California resource, and it is the fruition of decades of leadership

by Oakley and East Contra Costa County leaders.

KIDS AND YOUTH

The Sign, Say and Play program is designed especially for parents and their hearing babies from birth – 30 months. The interactive play group will help parents to learn useful signs, songs and games to begin signing right away.

Infants and toddlers will learn simple signs to let you know what they see, what they need and even how they feel. The program includes fun activities and parent education topics to stimulate growth in your baby’s motor, cognitive, language and literacy skills as well as improving social and emotional development.

HUNTER’S SAFETY COURSE Age: all ages and abilities Location: 1250 O’Hara Ave. Instructor: James Scott DFG This course of study is a 15 hour, 3 day classroom experience. The culmination of the course is a 100 question, closed book exam.

Students must score 80% or more to pass the course. At the successful completion of the course, students receive a Department of Fish & Game Certificate allowing them to purchase a State of California Hunting License. Participants will learn: respect for natural resources, respect for the firearm, respect for the law and the future of hunting. *Full attendance is mandatory by the State of California. Late arrivals or early departures will result in the student being dismissed from the course, NO EXCEPTIONS. The course study guide can be obtained prior to the start of class. Space is limited pre-registration is required so register early.

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness workout class. It includes Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggaeton and much more. The class format combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. The movements are easy to follow and it is an exciting workout designed for everybody.
