Dear Oak Knoll School Community, It is with humble gratitude that I thank you for another successful fundraising year at Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child. Because of you, we raised more than $1 million for the twelfth year in a row – enabling the school to offer challenging and contemporary educational programming in our Lower School and an outstanding college prep program in our Upper School. Your willingness to support the students, faculty and staff shows that you believe in Holy Child education that not only meets the wants of the age – but exceeds it. Through your generosity, your contribution to the 2016-17 Annual Fund allowed us to: • • • • • • • • • •
Expand the Lower School technology curriculum Expand the Lower School laptop program Transition to a new Upper School daily schedule Fund faculty professional development Purchase new classroom furniture in the Upper School Purchase new science equipment in the Upper School Support the creation of a Lower School newspaper Replace the roof on Tisdall Hall Renovate the lower-level Bonaventura Hall bathroom space Purchase four new school vehicles
We also, with the help of one generous donation, completely revamped our Lower School Technology Lab into a state-of-the-art makerspace called the I.D.E.A.S. Lab, which focuses on project-based learning surrounding innovation, design, engineering, art and science. Please visit the lab when you have time on campus. The room is a sight to be seen and worth the trip! While this is not an all-inclusive listing of the updates and program enhancements that were made possible through the 2016-17 Annual Fund, our students, faculty and staff will directly benefit for years to come from your generosity. 2016-17 ANNUAL REPORT Dear Friends, On behalf of the Oak Knoll Board of Trustees, it is my pleasure and privilege to share with you Oak Knoll’s Annual Report for the 2016-17 fiscal year. At the end of each school year, I reflect on why so many members of our community choose to get involved at Oak Knoll. I believe it is due to our deep sense of community, our shared faith and our commitment to service. This is evident in the day-to-day life of the school and in the pages that follow. Thanks to each of you, we celebrate more than $1 million raised through our Annual Fund for the twelfth year in a row, record enrollment and a well-deserved reputation for excellence. These successes represent the collective effort, dedication and heart of so many, and for that, we are truly grateful. Oak Knoll is in a strong financial position with a growing endowment, an operating surplus, and a successful Capital Campaign that has transformed our facilities and enhanced our programs. We are blessed to have wonderful students and families. Our Catholic mission and commitment to academic excellence serve as a foundation for all we hope to accomplish. As we look to the 2017-18 school year and the implementation of our five-year Strategic Plan, I am proud to represent Oak Knoll as its Board Chair, and I am confident about the school’s future. I would like to thank Tim Saburn, our Head of School, for his outstanding leadership. I would also like to thank my fellow Trustees for their commitment, advice and financial support. ENDOWMENT Gifts to Oak Knoll’s endowment are important expressions of support for the school’s future. When contributing to an endowment fund, a donor’s intent is that the principal from the gift be used to generate earnings for the school in perpetuity. Income from endowment funds may be used to support the general operations of the school or a specific area of interest to the donor, such as scholarship aid or faculty professional development. We gratefully acknowledge donations made to these funds during the 2016-17 academic year; names of this year’s donors are listed beneath each fund description unless otherwise noted.

Income generated from this fund supports Oak Knoll’s need-based scholarship program for Lower and Upper School students.
JOANNE LUCEY AINSWORTH ’64 SCHOLARSHIP FUND Est. 2013
Established by generous members of the Oak Knoll Community, the Joanne Ainsworth Scholarship Fund supports, annually, one or more Lower School families with a financial award to be used toward payment of tuition. The intention behind the fund is to alleviate the financial strain of a private education on families who are committed to Catholic education for their children, but who struggle to meet the Lower School tuition requirements. The award is given on a year-to-year basis, and support for the chosen family or families may or may not extend beyond a single year. Decisions are made at the discretion of Oak Knoll School leadership with special consideration for families with more than one child attending the Lower School.
