Dear Oak Knoll School Community, It is no secret that we are enduring one of the most difficult challenges many of us will ever face in our lifetime. Cornelia reminds us to ask God for His spirit and strength. So many in the world are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic — many have lost loved ones, others continue to battle health complications, and many have lost their jobs or have endured months of furlough trying to figure out how to provide for themselves and their loved ones. We know that where one ultimately chooses to donate their money is a significant and personal decision, and we are very grateful for your support of Oak Knoll at such a critical time. A donation to Oak Knoll means we can continue to provide a safe and secure environment for teaching and learning — which is so important now — and remain dedicated and committed to student success. Your contribution to the Emergency Fund and your participation in the “Run as One” provided timely support for families suffering in our own community. Your contribution to the 2019-20 Fund for Oak Knoll helped us to raise more than $1 million for the fifteenth year in a row and funded projects including: • • • • • • •
Phase 2 of the video surveillance camera project Installation of campus building generators Replacement of hardware for Bonaventura and Connelly Halls Construction of a bathroom in our Summit field shed Construction a pre-K playground Increase funding for faculty/staff professional development Completion of technology enhancements including remote learning management systems
It is because of your generosity that we were able to make key purchases and enhancements to our campus that, without our knowledge at the time, would play an important role during our spring 2020 shutdown. We are very fortunate because of those contributions and know that we are in a position of strength because of your help and support of Oak Knoll School and our students. 2019-20 ANNUAL REPORT Dear Friends, On behalf of the Oak Knoll Board of Trustees, it is my pleasure to share Oak Knoll’s Annual Report for the 2019-20 school year. And what a year it has been. I have seen our community face challenges none of us could have imagined, but I have also witnessed the qualities of grace, adaptability, and kindness that leave me feeling grateful to lead Oak Knoll’s Board. Despite the extraordinary circumstances of the year, our community can feel especially proud of our accomplishments. Thanks to you, 2019-20 represents another year of more than $1 million raised in support of the Fund for Oak Knoll. These dollars directly support today’s students and allow us to attract and retain the very best students in the future. The pages that follow are a testament to those accomplishments and to our shared sense of community and belief in Oak Knoll’s mission. This past spring, as Oak Knoll was lauded for its exceptional transition to distance learning, the Board and administrators were already looking ahead to the fall. Working closely with the Reopening Task Force, we planned for the immense challenge of reopening safely. In tandem with this significant undertaking, the Board resolved to press forward with Oak Knoll’s Little Acorns Pre-Kindergarten, a strategic initiative designed to meet the needs of our growing families and to attract new families to our school. Lastly, the many upgrades to our facilities were made with health and safety top of mind. As we embark on our 96th year, the Board maintains its strategic focus on attracting top tier faculty and staff and offering the very best academic and extracurricular programs to support our students. In all we do, we work to ensure the excellence of an Oak Knoll education while remaining focused on our Catholic mission and faith. It is my sincere honor to represent Oak Knoll as its Board Chair, and I thank Tim Saburn, Jennifer Landis, the administrators, faculty and staff for their support. To my fellow trustees and trustee emeriti, I extend my warmest thanks for your service. As we look to the future, the Board is committed to examine where we are and where we want Oak Knoll to be in the decades to come. We look forward to sharing this journey with each of you. RUN AS ONE Last spring, Oak Knoll held its first-ever virtual race called Run As One. More than 400 participants walked or ran a mile, 5K or 10K at the location of their choosing. The proceeds raised supported the Oak Knoll Emergency Fund, which provides tuition assistance to families in the Oak Knoll community who suffered financial losses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ENDOWMENT Gifts to Oak Knoll’s endowment are important expressions of support for the School’s future. When contributing to an endowment fund, a donor’s intent is that the principal from the gift be used to generate earnings for the School in perpetuity. Income from endowment funds may be used to support the general operations of the School or a specific area of interest to the donor, such as scholarship aid or faculty professional development. JOANN LUCEY AINSWORTH ’64 SCHOLARSHIP FUND Est. 2013
Established by generous members of the Oak Knoll Community, the Joanne Ainsworth Scholarship Fund supports, annually, one or more Lower School families with a financial award to be used toward payment of tuition. The intention behind the fund is to alleviate the financial strain of a private education on families who are committed to Catholic education for their children, but who struggle to meet the Lower School tuition requirements. The award is given on a year-to-year basis, and support for the chosen family or families may or may not extend beyond a single year. Decisions are made at the discretion of Oak Knoll school leadership with special consideration for families with more than one child attending the Lower School.
ATHLETIC FIELDS
The family of Susan Bacher, class of 1978, has established this fund in her memory. Susan died of cancer at age 25, and this fund is designed to perpetuate her name by awarding annual scholarship assistance to a commendable student in need. Fred and Claudine Bacher
