E D I T O R ‘S note Hello all. I hope this issue finds everyone and their families in good health. In times of uncertainty creativity gives us comfort. I am grateful to those that have found creativity as an outlet for the many emotions circling the world at this time. To those of you using this time to be creative, productive, learn new things… congratulations! To those of you that have been relaxing, decompressing, and spending down time with family…. congratulations! Remember that it is important to be gentle with each other. Everyone processes differently. I wish that we will all find the slivers of light in the darkness and be grateful for what we have. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of those working in the medical field and essential jobs. You are our superheroes and we are forever grateful. Thank you to teachers, at Oak Farm and beyond for the extra work and time you have put in to supporting our learning from home. Thank you to those of you that submitted to this issue during our time at home. I am excited to share with you this issue of TypeWrite and I sincerely hope that it will bring some levity to your family. Stay home, stay safe, do what you can, check on the people you love. “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.” These wise words are spoken by Logan Sweet, the Candymaker’s son and heir of the Life Is Sweet candy factory. Logan has turned twelve this year, and he is now of age to participate in the annual Young Candymakers’ Contest. Thirty-two kids enter a candy they have crafted, and only one wins the greatest prize of all: having their own candy manufactured and sold to stores throughout the nation. Logan feels pressured to win as he has grown up in a candy factory, but every other contestant has a reason of their own that makes them crave the prize more than their favorite treat. Along with his new companions Miles, Daisy and Philip, Logan and all the other young candymakers are in for an adventure they’ll never forget. This book is a suspensefilled mystery, with just the right amount of surprises and sweet delights. It is a real “treat” for any reader, young or old!
