Here in Tennessee, the earliest daylilies begin in late May, mid season is in mid June, and the latest begin in early July. Daylilies will bloom earlier south of us, and later to our north.

• A general rule is at least 6 hours of sun a day.

• They will tolerate part-shade conditions.

• Many darker-colored varieties will benefit from partial shade Soils: Daylilies will grow in a wide range of soils, from sand to heavy clay.

• If needed, improve heavy clay soils by adding compost, peat moss or sand.

• Sandy soil will benefit from the addition of compost or peat moss.
