EDITOR’S NOTE
P
eppermint EVERYTHING, Sunshines! Out with the turkey and in with the Christmas music!! I love Christmas. Well, just the holiday season in general.
I think my favorite thing about Christmas is the whole collective happiness or “holiday cheer”. It’s infectious. People are generally just happier and more willing to help out others. I love it! You know what’s also great (Other than getting to wear all my cute as heck sweaters)? HOT CHOCOLATE. I mean I have hot chocolate all year but during Christmas time it’s especially great. It makes you feel all warm and cozy in contrast to the cold weather and it’s a really A+ feeling. Also, eggnog is pretty great! The decorations never cease to amaze me, too! The handful of neighborhoods that go all out are the best (I can’t even imagine the amount of effort it takes to decorate an entire house). But the most important thing of all is spending time with your family and friends! Show how much you appreciate them and go spread some holiday cheer! Whatever you celebrate, I hope this holiday season is fantastic and fulfilling! OK, I really like Christmas, Tammy Pham

PRESIDENT’S CORNER
ello everybody! I hope this month has been doing well for you so far. For the seniors reading this, most of your college applications should be finished now and you’ll finally feel a refreshing wave of relief wash over you. The year is nearly halfway over and the difficult part of this journey is nearly over. For all of our other readers, I hope you’re doing well in all aspects of your life, whether they be Key Club related or not. In the month of November, Oxford Academy was able to provide multiple unique service opportunities to its members, the most notable of which being the Presents for Puppies Social with Western Key Club. Through this event, the club was able to provide a service project capable of reaching a large audience while also providing the volunteers with the opportunity to bond with another club within the division. The event went very well, and I’m glad to see more of our members participate in events. If you weren’t able to make it, be sure to come out next time! You never know what types of opportunities you may have when you go to an event. I hope to see you all at more events! Keep up your shining service Suns! — Alvin Hua

Our division ended up placing in the top 3 in the spirit battle, which we are still proud of! I think the best part of the rally was when the entire division showed our endless love to Kelly Tran, our LTG, by chanting
The night before Fall Rally, I was too excited to even fall asleep. I ended up having only 4 hours of sleep but that didn’t hold me back. When we arrived at Six Flags, there were so many divisions and we even talked to some people who came from Nevada! As soon as we got in, we had to rush over to the Golden Bear Theater where the spirit rally and LTG auction occurred.
I'm glad that I attended to FRS this year and I’m looking forward to next year’s FRS. I highly encourage you suns to join us next year. It’s certainly an event you won’t forget.
t was my first Fall Rally event which made me super hyped as the days got closer. I was fortunate enough to be one of the spirit representatives. I helped lead the division cheers, along with my fellow spirit coordinators/ representatives. Since it was my first FRS, I was hoping this year we could take home the spirit stick so our division worked extremely hard to make this happen.

“L-O-V-E WE LOVE OUR LTG”. I was extremely proud of my division during the cheers because we worked so hard and made it to the top 3! After the rally we roamed throughout the park and go on rollercoasters. We got into many spirit battles with other divisions which was so much fun to take part of. Every key clubber you meet at FRS are the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They will give free hugs and even follow you on Instagram.

he OAKC Joint Bonding Event with Western was a wonderful experience. We participated in bonding activities, such as 4 corners, where each group had to keep thinking of dance moves that they can show off when called upon. It was really nice to get to know the Key Clubbers from Western as well as from our own club. The bonding activities really allowed for a welcoming atmosphere along with all the cute dogs that members brought to the event! To top it all off, the service projects of making dog toys and peanut butter jelly sandwiches concluded the event nicely.
ver Thanksgiving break, Oxford and Western hosted a joint social on Monday, November 21. Members from both clubs brought a wide array of food for a delicious potluck, then gathered together to play games like Poncho and Huggy Bear. After, everyone was divided into smaller groups and assigned to make either dog toys or PB&J sandwiches. Even though the service projects themselves were nothing too out of the ordinary, I’m grateful for the chance that I had to meet some of the Western underclassmen, whose cheerful smiles and heart to serve reminded me why I joined Key Club in the first place.

ovember DCM was held at Stanton Central Park this time. On that day, Key Clubbers worked on the service project where they created sock snowmen which are DIY hand warmers. These DIY sock snowmen were quite simple once you got the hang of it and it was very fun. Personally, November DCM would be one of my most memorable DCM’s because not only did I have a great time with my friends but also of the great weather. It was already very windy and cold and soon, we were given another surprise—heavy rain! Despite the uncooperative weather, this DCM was unique and fun.

his month was a hectic one, and I wasn’t able to volunteer much, but that didn’t stop me from attending November DCM! The DCM was held at a really clean and well managed park, and progressed as per the usual meeting procedures. But my favorite part of this month’s DCM was the pouring rain. Everyone was freezing as we made sock snowmen (how ironic), and without a doubt it was really uncomfortable and cold. But I found it hilarious to be bonding with such a large group of fellow key clubbers that I couldn’t help but enjoy our collective freezing. I feel like we, as a division, got closer though bonding during a rainy and humor filled Saturday evening. I really hope the rest of you keyuties enjoyed the DCM as much as I did and if you missed the last DCM, come out and join us for the next one!

I
joined Key Club for one reason: to make a difference in the world. Whether it was through a small act of kindness or through helping in an event, I wanted to help someone’s life become easier. But with this year, being my last year in Key Club before I graduate, I wanted to truly make an impact in my community. I was able to achieve this goal through participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. If you don’t know, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is a program where “kids help kids” by asking for donations of the Eliminate Project, which aims to save a mother and a child’s life from an easily preventable disease known as maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT). This year, I was able to raise $224 dollars with a help of my friend, Tiffany Le. We worked really hard in raising as much as we could to save lives. This gratitude I felt from raising such a large amount made me not only feel happy inside, but I was able to spread this positivity and goodwill to my community as well. If you want to participate in this program to make a difference, donate your loose, spare change when you see someone carrying an orange donation box. Or if you want to take initiative and be a leader, carry that box yourself and see how much you can raise! With just a simple motivation of asking a person, you can go far and help heal the world in this season of giving.
