President's Corner!
Hi Key Clubbers! Look! We've finally made it to the end of the school year, which means it's time for some fun in the sun and some rest and relaxation. I know with the beginning of summer break some of you will go on vacation or just be too lazy to go out, but our club still actively serves our community over the summer! Since our mascot is the Sun, we serve whenever the sun rises! If you're not itching to start your summer homework in June, which should be most of you, I highly encourage all of you to attend lots of different events and meet new people. Going to Key Club events will give you lots to talk about when people ask what you did over the summer and will bring you closer to achieving your 100 hours. Once school comes back in August, which will be very soon, prioritizing school, sports, and clubs will definitely be difficult. Therefore, I urge you all to serve now over the summer, so it'll be easier to serve in the fall. When prioritizing, health and sleep always comes first, no matter what, and then comes family and school. Clubs and other activities come after, so keep this in mind whenever you need to manage your time. Remember: Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you. Feel free to contact me at any time over the summer if you need someone to talk to or if you're looking for an opportunity to serve! Shine Bright!

Hey Key Clubbers! This is your bulletin Editor, John Hoang! I’m back for the month of June to bring you suntastic people the monthly newsletter! YAY! As you guys know, school is almost out but that never means key club is out! You guys still have the chance to volunteer during the summer so keep a look out on the facebook page and your email! Anyways, since the school year is almost up :( This means that all of the seniors are leaving. It’s really sad to see them go but I know that we have to let them go and let them BEE free! Make sure to have a great summer but don’t forget! Key Club goes throughout the summer, so keep on shining! :D Anyways I’m back for the month of June and this month has been really stressful for me lately so I’m sorry for this newsletter being released so late! This newsletter displays all of the fun adventures that we had as a club over the past month with a variety of events such as Club Banquet, May DCM, and so much more! This month is also the last time we will be seeing some of our seniors so make sure to say goodbye before you lose the chance to! If you want to make any appearances in the next newsletter, just contact me, Nicolas, or Emily for further information! Don’t hesitate! We’re all really easy people to talk to. And we don’t bite! Unless we’re all tired.

It's pretty crazy how quickly the year passed by. I still remember last year's club banquet as if it were yesterday and it's hard to believe that I have yet to say goodbye to another group of not just seniors but of amazing Key Clubbers. I figured, because I didn't give a speech during that time, here is my opportunity to say something about them: TINA- She is probably one of the most incredible people I have ever met. Her dedication and effort for this entire division is inspiring and I would not have asked for a better LTG. She led us in spirit, compassion, and pride. Under her leadership, I felt proud being a part of this division. I wanted to help it, grow with it, and have fun with the people in it. I'm gonna miss her a lot and I know that no matter where she goes, she will succeed and make a difference in many more lives! I'll miss her a lot! HANNAH- Her laugh is insanely contagious. She is so fun and outgoing that sometimes I forget that she holds such a serious position as Oxford's Key Club President. She knows when to get down to business but also creates an enjoyable environment for our ohana. What I love most about Hannah is that she makes other people smile simply with her presence, and I am definitely going to miss her upbeat attitude and energy. AJ- He is my VP inspiration. AJ has so much spirit and I admit that it will be hard to fill in his shoes. I don't know how he does it but he knows how to get people's attention in a positive way. He has an awesome voice and overall, just an amazing personality. He is stylish, creative, and classy with his burps. He cares a lot for the club, the division, and overall this organization and I'm glad to have him as my mentor. JOELLE- Joelle smiles all the time! I do not think a day exists when she is not smiling. She keeps our projects organized and doesn't get much credit for it even though she deserves that acknowledgement. For this club, she has dedicated a lot of her time establishing fun volunteering events and I appreciate her effort. Her hard work is one of the many reasons why we succeeded in the past year. SHAI- Shai has an incredible sense of style. She looks good in anything. For Key Club she helped publicize for our events and is very creative. Although she may not be the most talkative person, once you get to know her you find out that she can be very fun. Her obsession Extra Flamin' Hot Cheetos is one of the many things I found out about her this year and I'm gonna miss spending time with her. MARILYN- In the past year, I had the pleasure of working with Marilyn on DCON scrapbooks. She is artistically talented and her skills helped us receive the distinguished award for our nontraditional scrapbooks. We bonded in the weirdest way possible (cutting pictures and painting lollipops) and I discovered that she is so much fun to work with and I'm gonna miss seeing her around!

It’s been about a month since I was blessed enough to become a Project Chair for Oxford Academy, and yet, I’ve found I’m already headed in a downward spiral.

Surely nothing could be worth the hours of stress and anger I’ve felt in this position, no matter how easy it supposedly is. Nothing would be worth the time I’ve spent prioritizing MRFs and ORFs over actual school work and sleeping. Right?
So despite all of the low points, misfortunes, and other extra unpleasantries that come with the job, it’s still pretty darn rewarding. Even now, at 11:30, when I have twenty-nine minutes left to submit this article to our tyrannical secretary, Emily Huynh, and finals the next week, I still wouldn’t consider giving up this position. Because Key Club has proven time and time again to definitely be worth the work, no matter how sleepy I get.
Well technically, no. I really probably should have done my homework on those

Visions Meeting! Visions Meeting was quite exciting this year, especially since I would be the one to carry on tradition of having our all-important Visions Meeting at the secretary’s house. Visions Meeting at the beginning of this term was met with uncertainty and difficulty, mostly due to the fact that everyone had busy schedules and therefore was unable to plan a set date for our meeting. When we finally got a date, it was unfortunate that my CIF Prelims for track and field would be on that day, so we had to reschedule. Had it been any other event, I would have maybe skipped track so we could have our Visions Meeting. But this was CIF Prelims, and it was my first time especially as a sophomore, and I had made it into two events, and I worked literally almost to the point of passing out for the past 4 months just to get in. And as much as I love Key Club, I wouldn’t skip track for it. So remember children, always set your priorities straight. Anyways, despite previous obstacles, we were finally able to set a date for our first Visions Meeting on May 17! Early at 7 AM, we were crowded into my house for the quickest Visions Meeting we would ever hold. The exciting part, however, was not the 2 hours of what we should do and about the whole year. Isn’t that surprising? I was quite excited for the bonding event as I did not know a few members of my board and I still wanted to get to know them. The main way we learned to bond was through the game Baby, I Love You. This game was definitely a dealbreaker as I think our whole board that was present *definitely* got over the awkward barrier with each other. The Visions Meeting has made me look forward to the coming term!

Hey Key Clubbers! Another wonderful month has passed! All the AP testing has passed and now we await the beloved summer. This past month was very interesting. There has been a lot of new Key Club experiences for me in just this short month. The first was May DCM. At this DCM, I actually met a few new friends! I was so glad I could bond with Key Clubbers from all over the division. The most memorable, however, had to be Visions Meeting. Now for those of you who do not know, Visions Meeting is a meeting where the board members meet up to discuss the responsibilities of a position as well as events and goals throughout the year. At this meeting, I felt super cool because I realized that my journey of being a Key Club board member has begun. Talking about Key Club things really made me feel all mushy inside. I felt professional and a part of something important. Now, not only was the meeting in itself good, but so was the bonding event. We all did a few different bonding events, however, the most memorable of them all had to be "Baby, I Love You". Seeing the board members try to seduce other board members was just pure gold. I think watching Bryan Vo slowly make his way over to Ryan Zeng just made the most sense to me. I really saw them connect on an emotional level. Then when Ryan made his way over to me, my senses were just all tingling everywhere. Especially when those hardcore few did not break under the midst of all the seduction, the game got real intense. Each round was more seductive than before, a perfect equation for bonding. My two favorites had to be when Reah did her hair flip on her way to Nic and when Nic got down with Chanel, you know, as low as Bryan Vo's math grade.

International Convention 2014 At ICON, Key Clubs from around the world come together to celebrate a year of service. At this year’s ICON, many events will occur such as electing your new International Board and meeting people across the world! It will be a time full of excitement as you will learn about your own position and how other clubs around the world work! It will be taking place in Anaheim and Key Club is ready to take over OC! This year, ICON will be hosted in the CNH District and as a result, the prices have been lowered for our district! Registration is now closed for the 2014 year however that doesn’t mean you should stop learning about what ICON is for. ICON is used to elect International Board as said before however it is so much more than just that. ICON is also the place where new rules for Key Club are elected and placed and the only way we are able to voice our opinion is if people go! You may have missed your chance this year to go but that doesn't mean you can never go again! Next year be sure to keep a lookout for this event and be sure to go because it will be an experience you will never forget.
