New Beginnings

Wow. It is already March, and I can’t believe that time has passed this quickly. In February, we already finished electing our new board, signaling the end of the year. For the positions of next year ’ s OA Key Club executive board, we had several candidates presenting speeches to the general members and answering their questions. No matter what the results were, I was proud of the candidates for making efforts to continue Key Club’s passions.

I remember listening to the candidates’ speeches and being surprised at how quickly the year had already passed. It just seemed like yesterday when the school year started, but now, it’s time to get ready for the new “Key Club year. ” Not only that, but the candidates were all now sophomores and juniors, and I realized how long we all have been in Key Club. Next year, my class peers will become the oldest class year as seniors and are already becoming leaders to lead the upcoming Key Clubbers. This reminded me that I do not have much time left in high school and as an Oxford Academy Key Clubber The busy years have gone by so quickly that I don’t think I had time to truly enjoy high school life and the experiences that came with it.
I remember the start of Key Club as a freshman and attentively participating in online service projects, but now as a junior chained to AP classes, I slightly lost that motivation. I wish I could have enjoyed the process more and attended events to get more involved. For the underclassmen who are just starting their Key Club journeys, I encourage you all to enjoy the process, make many new friends, and become passionate about serving the community!
