The Hunua Falls are on the Wairoa River in the Auckland Region of New Zealand, near Hunua. The land around was bought by Auckland for water supplies between 1940 and 1960. The Milford NZ Polo Open is New Zealand’s ultimate Polo experience, renowned for being a highlight on the summer sporting and social calendar.
Nestled in the picturesque Clevedon countryside, Australasia’s longest running, most prestigious high goal polo tournament TheMilford NZ Polo Open will return in it’s 49th year.
Sunday the 15th February 2026 will feature our nation’s best polo players and professionals from around the world competing for the much coveted trophy. Champagne on the lawn, stomping divots, the thundering of hooves and stylishly dressed spectators with fine cuisine and a fusion of music makes the Milford NZ Polo Open a must attend event.

A beautiful beach walk from Maraetai Beach to the wharf at Magazine Bay, on Auckland’s Pohutukawa coast.
You’ll be mainly walking on white shell beaches, with some areas of boardwalk and paved path. There’s a short section of rocks to walk over between Maraetai Beach and Waiomanu Beach.
Start your stroll at the western end of Maraetai Beach, at Maraetai Park. Here you’ll find a small viewing deck which is a great photo spot. There’s a fun beachfront playground here for toddlers and children to start their adventure and options for an ice-cream or coffee stop across the road.
Maraetai Beach is a popular summer destination - you’re spoiled for choice with picnic and swimming spots. There is shade along the way from the grand Pohutukawa trees.
Continue to the end of Maraetai Beach, and then climb over a short section of rocks to reach Waiomanu Beach. Continue along the coast until you reach picturesque Magazine Bay.
There are plenty of public toilets along the route.
