I. 1956 Health Stamps. The following are the plate numbers used for this year's Health stamps:-

1. Ross Dependency Stamps. Reproductions of the Ross Dependency stamps, of which particulars were given in Philatelic Bulletin No. 10, appear on page 4 of thiB iSBue. The stamps were printed in England by Tho~ De La Rue & Co. Ltd., and there are 120 stamps to a sheet in each denomination.

When the New Zealand Trans-Antarctic ~xpedition arrives in the Ross Dependency area a post otfice will be established there.

It ie expected that the office, which will be known as ~cott Base, will be opened early in January, 1957.

The post office will remain open fo~ an indafinite period.

When the stampe are placed on sale in the Roas Dependency, mint specimens will be obtainable at the Chief Post Offices at Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wellington and from the Stamps Division, General Post Office, Wellington, C.1.

As stated in Bulletin No. 10 the BtamDS 11'111 be valid only for postage on articles posted at post offlces established 1n the Ross Dependency area.

They will not be valid for postage on mail posted lrrNew Zealand.

3. ROIl Dependency Souvenir Covers.The instructions regarding the method of obtaining covers by residents in New Zealand as notified in Bulletin No. 10 are cancelled.

Under a new arrangement with the Ross Sea Committee, souvenir covers provided by the Committee may be purchased at permanent post offices dur1ng the month of Ootobar.

The oost is 6d each cover.

New Zealand residents who wish to have Ross Dependenoy stamps affixed to envelopes and postmarked at the Scott Base oat off1ce when it opens may hand in their addressed envelopes whether they are offic1al souven1r covers or otherwise) at any permanent post office, and pay tha cost of the stamps required.

Except where the special Ross Sea Committee covers are used, a servicing fee of 1d an envelope is payable in add1tion to the postage.

The postmaster will issue a receipt for the amount paid and will forwsrd the envelopes to Wellington for the stamps to be aff1xed.

Particulara aa to the number and denorni~ations of the stamps requ1red on each envelope are to be 1ndicated 1n pencil on the back.

Instructions concerning the forward1ng of orders for covers from persons reaid1ng beyond New Zealand, as outlined in Bulletin No. 10, are unchanged.

4. 75th Anniversary of New Zealand Meat Export Trade. Further particulars of the two special stamps - 4d and Bd - wh1ch are to be issued in FebrllBry next to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the first shipment of meat from New Zealand to Great Britain will be given later.

5. Queen Elizabeth 11 Stamps. -

The 1d denominat1on of these stamps with the enlarged figure in the value symbol was issued on the 12th July, 1956.

The atamps were printed from plates Noa. 11, 12, 13 and 14.

6. Postage Stamp Booklets•., Postage stamp booklets with an enlarged figure in the 3d value symbol were 1ssued on 1st ~ay, 1956.

7. Royal Visit Stamps.

Furnished hereunder are particulars of the numbers of Royal Visit stamps printed.

9. Invercargill- Riverton Stage-coach Mail.In conrection with the Southland Centennial, the Invercargill Junior Chambar of Commerce is arranging a stage-coach journey from Invercargill to Riverton on the 13th October, to coinclde with the opening of the Riverton Centennial Memorial Gatea.

A special mail will be carried on the coach, and the Chamber is issuing special covers for the occasion.

These covers may be obtained from the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Invercargill at a cost of 4d each.

All articles carried In the msil will be impressed with a spscial cachet reading "Official Stage-coach Mail, Invercargill-Riverton, 13th Octobar, 1956."

Where possible, the cachet will be Impr~ed on the address aide of the article; otherwise it will be placed on the back of the cover.

Persons ln New Zealand who desire to forward correspondence by the stage-coach ma11should send their envelopes fully addressed, and with the correct postage affixed, to the Chief Postmaster, Invercargill in time to reach that office on or before the 10th October.

The envelope containing the covers should be endorsed "Stage-coach }!a11."

10. New Zealand Philatelic Congress and Stamp Exhibition.The 1956 New Zealand Philatelic Congress and Exhibition organised by the combined Christchurch Philatelic Societies under the auspices of the Federation of New Zealend Philatelio Sooieties wlll be held in Christchurch from the 17th to the 22nd October, 1956.

A specisl post office will be opened at the Exhibition in St. Michael's Hall, Durham Street, from the 17th to the 20th October.

The date-stamp will read "Philatelic Congreas Christchurch N.Z." Collectors who require impreesions of the special date-stamp should forward stamped addressed envelopes in a separate cover addressed to the Chief Postmaster, Christchurch and endoraed "Exhibition Covers."

11. Junior Chamber International. A post office \~ill be opened at the Town Hall, Well1!'.gton, during the period 8th 15th November to cater for delegates v;!10 v!ill be attending the 11 th World Congrcss of the Jemiol' Ch3ll'ber International which is to be held in Wellington from the 8th to the 14th November.

The date-stamp to be used at the office will have the words "XI World Congress" in the top arc, "Junior Chamber International" in the bottom arc, "Wellington" above the date-line, end "N.3." below the date-lihe.

Persons who desire to have correspondence cancelled at the post office Should forward their envelopes fully addressed, and with the correct postage affixec, to the Chief Postmaster, Wellington in time to reach that office by the 6th November.

The envelope containing the letters should be endorsed "Junior Chamber In terna t iena 1."

12. Mobile Post Office Savings Bank.A mobile post office savings-bank will be operating in the Wellington postal district in October.

The office is primarily for the transaction of savings-bar.k business, but provision is being ~ade for the acceptance of postal articlcs and telegrams.

The date-stamp will read as shown bclow:-
