Welcome to All Visitors The Auckland Polo Club is honoured to again be hosting the Nation's Oldest Sporting Trophy the Savile Cup. And would like to extend our heart felt welcome to all the visiting teams, players and spectators.

This year we have a staggering 26 teams entered, which is sure to make a fantastic week of great polo for all to watch and partake.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our committee & members for all their support and help in getting the Club ready for the Tournament, with special mention to Daniel Worker the Club Captain for all of his time and efforts to bring it all together and getting the Club fields ready; Tony van den Brink our Club President for the use of his spectacular fields at Ryburn Park and James Worker for the use of his breath taking Kiwi Fields. We are extremely lucky to have so many high quality cooch fields within such close proximity, and can't wait to see you all in action on them.

Also special thanks to all our partners, Gregory Equine and NZ Racing who have been a tremendous support to our Club all season. We couldn’t put on our tournaments without your continued support, so Thank you!

Polo Safety Guidelines Helmets and appropriate footwear must be worn by ALL RIDERS. Horses must be under control at all times.

No dogs allowed at any of the grounds.

Polo involves horses travelling at speed. Spectators must not go onto the field within 10 metres of the sideline while the game is in progress.

Parents and guardians are asked to monitor their children at all times and make sure they do not go onto the field or within 10 metres of the sideline while the game is in progress.

To avoid injury from a polo ball being hit over the sideline, spectators are asked to keep an eye on the game when play is in progress.

Horse trucks and floats may only be parked within allocated areas.

Spectator vehicles may only be parked within allocated areas.

No vehicles may be parked within 10 metres of the sidelines of the polo field.

No vehicles may be parked behind the goal line at each end of the polo field.

Only registered players may take part in NZPA sanctioned events.

Auckland Polo Club, Ryburn Park & Kiwi Fields take no responsibility for harm or loss caused as a result of the sport of polo being played or prepared for.

Auckland Polo Club, Ryburn Park & Kiwi Fields, will all operate under the Polo at Red Covid Guidelines as below:

Savile Cup Tournament Information Players to provide their own whistles when umpiring.

Auckland Polo Club Fields are no BYO on alcoholic beverages, but picnics and soft drinks are encouraged.

Ryburn Park and Kiwi Fields are BYO on all beverages and picnics are encouraged.

There will be food and non-alcoholic refreshments available at all fields.

All games are played under HPA rules.

All teams to provide an adequate and tacked up horse for the umpire for their game.

All teams to provide one goal judge for their game.

THE SAVILE CHALLENGE CUP This cup was presented in 1890 by Major R.D. (then Captain) Savile. To be played annually by Polo Clubs in New Zealand under the following conditions.

1.That the competition should take place at one centre each year 2. That the Imperial Service has the right to enter a team each year 3.The management of the Savile Cup competition was vested with the New Zealand Polo Association upon its formation on 17th September 1891.

HANDICAP CUP The cup was firstly played for in 1901. Up until 1958 was contested by all teams at the tournament. After that date, only teams entered in the Savile Cup were eligible.

WILSON CUP Presented to NZ Polo Association in 1976 by J.H.G. Wilson for intermediate competition. The Wilson familiy has been associated with NZPA since its inception.

RIDDIFORD & LEVIN CUP Presented by DHS Riddingford and M.C. & R.L. Levin for the junior competition.

KLAUS CUP Presented by Mr F. Klaus in 1954 for thehandicap winners in the junior low goal grade.

All games until the semi-finals and finals will finish on the first bell regardless of the scores being tied.

In case of a tie in a league, there will be no penalty shoot outs. Order of merit established as per HPA page 89. If still tied then a coin toss.

All of the McKenzie section will be played on handicap. The other grades will be played Open until the handicap section.

Management reserves the right to alter draw or schedule as they deem necessary.

Horses are only permitted to play for one club during the tournament.

All teams should have a replacement for their team available.

McKELVIE TROPHY Presented by the McKelvie Family for the Champion Team of ponies at the Savile Cup. ALLEN BROTHERS CUP Presented by A.H. & N.V. Allen for the Best Pony at the Savile Cup. AUCKLAND CUP For the Player of the Tournament.

DICK BLACK TROPHY For the Oustandig Pony in the Riddingford and Levin Cup. SHOLTO MATTHEWS CUP For the Best Commentator of the tournament.

PRINCE OF WALES TROPHY Presented by Dalgety New Zealand Ltd for the Most Promising Player.

CHAMPION GROOM Awarded to the Best Groom of the tournament.

WOOD TROPHY Awarded to the Best -2 Player in Savile tournament.

FAIR PLAY AWARDS Savile Cup, Wilson Cup, Riddiford and Levin Cup, McKenzie Salver.
