NATIONAL COVERAGE LOCAL DELIVERY

NZ Construction Alliance (NZCA) is a partnership of commercial construction companies that work together to deliver nationwide construction projects.

Our eight regional partners have been operating for an average of 57 years and are committed to the alliance via a shareholder’s agreement that aligns them to the values and fundamental principles of the network.

The scale and experience of NZCA creates an opportunity to leverage the talent and skills from across the alliance. The sharing of knowledge and utilisation of resources within the network ensures continuous improvement and better delivery across Aotearoa.

With our robust operational processes, we have delivered over 100 projects directly with NZ Construction Alliance contracts, and many more through our partners. We specialise in delivering programmes-of-work, one-off projects, and connecting clients to our partners with the support of the wider network.

The formation of the NZ Construction Alliance has created a unique proposition that ensures clients get consistency of outcomes across the country delivered by locals in each community.

How we started The NZ Construction Alliance was formed in response to a client who was impressed with the delivery of a major project, and subsequently asked for it to be replicated in other major cities across New Zealand. Our founding directors declined this invitation because working in different regions is not in the best interests of our people, is generally less efficient, and ultimately the project cannot be delivered as well.

While we were unable to fulfil this client request, it was clear that clients wanted a better offering for national projects, and our search began to find the best locally owned and operated construction companies that share our values of teamwork, strong communities, long-term trusting relationships, and putting people first.

The result is a highly successful partnership of 8 culturally aligned construction businesses, all owned and operated within their local region, while being connected to the knowledge base and the support of a national organisation.

Clelands Construction Ltd - Taranaki Partner Since 1916, Clelands have been strongly committed to providing their customers with the highest level of service in the building and construction markets. Building and maintaining relationships with customers is at the heart of Clelands’ business, and their planning and management style is consultative and systematic. Clelands are the largest and most experienced construction team in Taranaki.

Alexander Construction - Hawke’s Bay Partner Founded in 1947, Alexander Construction is built on a proud history of quality workmanship and innovation along with a strong commitment to clients and building partners. They have played a major role in shaping the commercial construction industry in Hawke’s Bay over the past 7 decades and continue to produce quality buildings on time and on budget.

Maycroft Construction Ltd - Wellington/Manawatu Partner The foundation of Maycroft Construction is their great buildings, great people, and great relationships. Establised in 1954, they have a long history of commercial construction projects, sustaining trust with their clients, communities and construction teams, and investing in the wellbeing and development of their team.

Maycroft provides a range of construction services including preconstruction, seismic strengthening, new builds, refurbishments, fit-outs, and joinery across the central and lower North Island.

Scott Construction Ltd - Nelson/Marlborough/West Coast Partner With a team of over 100 highly skilled people across Nelson, Marlborough and Central Otago, Scott Construction is an award-winning building company that can provide maintenance, building and alteration services for large and small industrial plants and commercial buildings across industries.

Amalgamated Builders Ltd - Canterbury/Otago/Southland Partner Amalgamated Builders Limited (ABL) has operated in the South Island since 1972. During this time ABL has been engaged by many clients and managed over 2000 projects, growing to become one of the South Island’s largest and most successful builders.

ABL projects are characterized by the strength of client relationships, a strong team based on a cooperative and ‘outside the box’ approach to challenges combined with a passion to succeed.

HOW WE OPERATE

We have a client centric approach and will ensure that we provide the best solution for our customers. This may be through contracting directly, providing account management, or simply introducing our team while operating in the background to ensure that best practice is transferred across the NZ Construction Alliance.

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT: NZ Construction Alliance can work with national and multi-region clients to ensure their needs are met, while learnings, processes, and requirements specific to the client are shared from one project to the next through clear communication protocols.

CONTRACT DIRECTLY: NZ Construction Alliance contracts directly with clients to simplify the contracting process, de-risk projects, manage programmes of works, support multi-region maintenance requirements, and provide solutions to complex projects. Any complexity is managed by your one point of contact in the team.

INTRODUCE PARTNERS AND REFER PROJECTS: Our network has the ability to support projects throughout the country. If preferred we can simply make an introduction, while providing comfort that our construction partner is aligned to our values and fundamental principles.

Projects will be delivered via our partners under a super-sub agreement ensuring that they fully comply with the contractual terms required by the client. Our partners are the owners of NZCA, and have committed to our fundamental principles via a shareholders agreement, with performance governed by the CEO and NZCA Board.

Programme of Works / Master Services Agreement (MSA’s) We specialise in programmes of work delivered under a Master Services Agreement, where we can drive efficiency and quality by combining multiple construction projects under one contract. Our model allows us to deliver these projects anywhere across New Zealand, while creating feedback loops to ensure that we are continuously improving on each project and interaction with our clients.

Details: There are many unique elements to this architectural masterpiece, the building hosts the largest afforested roof in the Southern Hemisphere with 800 cubic metres of engineer-designed soil, 150 trees and 3,000 plants. These are intertwined with the tikanga Māori values of Manakitanga (social), Ōhanga (economic), and Kaitiakitanga (environmental) to ensure that they are relevent to the sustainable construction of buildings in Aotearoa.

• We educate and empower our employees to take care of their physical and mental health, with internal support from our leading health & safety team that encourage reporting of all incidents and near misses.

• We also provide support on psychological safety with helpline support and external organisations such as Mates in Construction.

• NZ Construction Alliance fosters equal opportunities in the workplace for all, including training for unconscious bias, and actively encouraging and supporting under-represented groups in the industry.

NZCA HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

Protection of people, our environment and assets are key to our success. The provision, maintenance and continuous improvement of a safe and healthy work environment is one of the company’s prime responsibilities.

It is our policy that each of our employees shall be provided with a safe and healthy place to work. To achieve this policy, NZCA is committed to complying with all relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice and safe operating procedures and to making every practicable effort in the area of injury prevention, hazard identification and control, health monitoring and health promotion.

NZCA partners all have established health and safety systems available for review that demonstrate compliance with current legislation. Each company employs dedicated full‐time Health and Safety Managers, and we work towards best practice daily.

Health and Safety is reported online through Acuite which provides full transparency to both NZCA head office and the client.
