Dylan and Victoria’s Story

Meet Dylan and Victoria, a couple from Ontario who’ve made New Zealand their home away from home while they follow their chiropractic dreams.
A purpose and a plan Dylan and Victoria have always had a passion for helping people. They met whilst studying kinesiology and, after jointly committing to a career in chiropractic, began researching schools across the US and Canada together. Both struggled with the disconnect they discovered between their own personal values and the values of the colleges on offer, but, after being introduced to the College immediately connected with the Kiwi college’s vitalistic approach and applied to join.
Global impact from down under Now in their fourth and final year at the College, Dylan and Victoria are firmly part of the worldwide chiropractic movement and agree that being based in a small country on the other side of the world hasn’t stopped them from making a global impact on the chiropractic stage. After attending the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS) AGM in Brisbane in his first year, Dylan was nominated to be the organisation’s regional co-ordinator, joining the international executive team as the liaison between WCCS and each of the partner schools around Asia and the South Pacific. He held the position for a year and says he’s made priceless connections as a result. “I basically know chiropractors all around the world now and being able to network with them has allowed me to get different perspectives and have a better understanding of what chiropractic is like globally.” Victoria also played a leadership role within WCCS, acting as the College's representative in the organisation.
“We have made very different connections being here than we ever would have made if we had stayed in Canada."
Stay and play Dylan and Victoria have been just as passionate about exploring New Zealand in their spare time as they have been about the chiropractic profession. This love for seeing the country’s sights is so strong, they’ve even decided to extend their stay.
Both agree combining the opportunity to travel with the opportunity to continue your education is a great way to make the most out of time abroad and recommended other international students consider doing the same, both for the life experience and the important balance it offers.
