New CEO of GREENCORE USA Appointed Greencore Group plc, a leading
international manufacturer of convenience foods, is pleased to announce the appointment of Anton Vincent as CEO of Greencore USA, a subsidiary of UK-listed Greencore plc. Anton joined the Group this past July and reports into Greencore Group CEO, Patrick Coveney. Anton has over 20 years’ leadership in the US food manufacturing industry and brings strong US food industry relationships to the Group. He joins Greencore from General Mills, where he most recently was the President of their $3 billion US Snacks division. Anton began his career at General Mills in 1993, progressing through leadership roles including executive roles as President of Frozen Frontier division and President of Baking division. He was a member of the corporate operating committee and board member of General Mills’ 301 Inc. Anton’s early career experiences include leadership roles at MCI Telecommunications (now Verizon) and Fidelity Investments. He is also a former Applebee’s International franchisee. Anton graduated with an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and BBA in Finance from Sam Houston State University. He is a native of Jackson, Mississippi. Tropical weather in Florida is a way of life. The Sunshine State leads the nation in landfalling hurricanes with nearly 120. Properly preparing for hurricane season now can save you and your employees unwanted stress when a storm is imminent. The key is having a plan in place when that time comes. Here are some tips from Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) to help get you going as we head into the heart of storm season.
Plan ahead:
Ensure your employees’ contact information is up to date. Have a plan in place to communicate after the storm passes, e.g. set up a telephone number with a message featuring updates to inform employees of the status of company operations. Establish a safe area away from exterior glass windows and doors if you plan to shelter at your business. Generator safety:
Read and follow all the manufacturer’s guidelines when using a generator to avoid dangerous shortcuts and ensure safe operation. DO NOT directly connect your generator to your business’s breaker or fuse box. Power from a generator connected to a business’s wiring will "back feed" into utility lines – which can severely injure or kill a neighbor or utility crew working to restore power. DO NOT run generators inside your business or garage. Keep generators away from all open windows to prevent the fumes from entering your business. Use a battery-operated carbon monoxide alarm to monitor possible dangerous gas levels. Turn off all connected appliances before starting your generator. Turn connected appliances on one at
a time, never exceeding the generator’s rated wattage. DO NOT touch a generator if you are wet, standing in water or on damp ground. NEVER refuel a hot generator or one that is running – hot engine parts or exhaust can ignite gasoline. Have plenty of gas safely stored in gas containers to operate your generator.
Before a storm:
Pay attention to instructions from public officials and the media. Identify outdoor equipment, materials and structures that could become airborne and move them to a safe location. Park vehicles in safe, protected areas such as a covered garage. Charge your cell phone and keep it ready by obtaining portable chargers. Make multiple back-ups of computer files and data and store records off premises. Run a special voice message informing employees and customers on the status of company operations. Close offices with sufficient time to allow employees to secure their own

homes, and inform clients that you’re closing early and when you plan to reopen.
After a storm:
Make your safety and the safety of your employees a priority. DO NOT travel, or ask employees to travel, until it is safe to do so. Watch for downed power lines. The Helen Diller Family Foundation,
a supporting foundation of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, has announced the recipients of its annual Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards. Now in its 12th year, the national Awards recognize young changemakers who are committed to undertaking the most urgent and pressing challenges faced by communities around the globe. This year’s Awards recipients are the creators of non-profit organizations, widely adopted school curriculums, student-led volunteer programs, and more that address issues from school bullying, sexual harassment and sexism, to health disparities, homelessness, and discrimination. The Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards began in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007 as the vision of Bay Area philanthropist Helen Diller. The Diller Teen Awards recognize Jewish teens demonstrating and exemplifying the spirit of tikkun olam, a central Jewish value meaning “repair the world.” Since 2007, the program has awarded more than $4 million to 114 teens in recognition of their vision, innovation, and demonstration of leadership. “This past year has clearly demonstrated the power of youth and their ability to engage in helping repair our world,” said Jackie Safier, President of the Helen Diller Family Foundation. “The 2018 Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award recipients are confronting some of the most complex and divisive issues of our time with a passion, determination, and courassgeousness that we can all admire and hope to emulate. These teens continue to remind us that individuals of any age
can be leaders and advocates who seek to positively impact the world in a significant way.” Fostering a collaborative community among recipients and bolstering national recognition of these forwardthinking teens is a primary goal of the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards. Past recipients continue to inspire their peers to follow in their tikkun olam footsteps and create meaningful relationships with new awardees through networking and mentorship. Many past recipients have also been recognized by some of the most prestigious institutions and leaders, including the United Nations Foundation, the Jefferson Awards, the Prudential Spirit Of Community Awards, The White House, and former President Barack Obama. The 2018 Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards recipients were selected by committees comprised of community leaders and educators located in cities around the country. ENTER TAINMENT - By Holly Caplan From the moment my daughter got out of school in May to the end of July, was a complete blur. It was a blur of summer camp, work, travel, deadlines, proposals and pool parties. The fact that she was going back to school in three weeks had not occurred to me. When it did, I panicked. Where did the time go? I frantically realized I had no idea what day school started and had to ask another mom. I got a brisk answer of “August 20th,” which I like to call the “working mom fail” response. The guilt of not knowing when my child starts 2nd grade and feeling completely overwhelmed set in. Where do I begin? I’ve got to sign her up for fall activities, get a new backpack, lunchbox, some new clothes and also manage my job, meetings, travel and various work expectations. As working moms I think we feel there is no easy way to do all of this and keep a clear head and stay on task, but I have found five great tips for surviving back to school as a working mom:
1 Order Online: Spare yourself the hustle of shopping. No need to throw everyone in the car in 100-degree heat to head to your favorite retail super store, fend off the kiddos requests for toys and candy while backto-school shopping. It is not worth it. Modern technology allows us the ability to order online for backpacks, clothing and supplies. Think of the time and energy you will save by sitting on your couch and checking some boxes and swiping “check out”. This also applies to grocery shopping too, which is becoming more and more common. Download the app for Shipt or Amazon Prime and let
for Working Moms On BACK-TO-SCHOOL HUSTLE them do the grocery shopping for you. Do it a day or two before school starts. The kids can make their requests so they get to put some creativity into their lunchbox choices. Other positives are that it isn’t expensive to shop online and it saves money because you avoid overbuying in a store.
2 Let the Laundry Lie: Where does your laundry lie? Mine sits on a bed in the guest room. Clean, yet unfolded. But clean. The point here is, let your laundry lie. It is okay to let some things slip during back -to -school time. You will have so much on your plate as it is, don’t let the mundane domestic stuff get to you. Not having every thing completed or accomplished around the house is okay. You will not get a ticket or a fine for letting some things in the household fall behind. Give yourself permission to know that it is okay if you don’t get everything done. It is completely normal, and you will eventually catch up.
3 Get Your Routine Back: In the summer our routines are typically off. As I mentioned, it can feel like a complete blur when so much is going on. Activities, camp and work will run you, instead of you running them. No shock there. Bringing structure and school back into your life can be a struggle, but welcome it because it brings the return of normalcy. Give yourself a cushion returning to the routine by practicing earlier bedtimes and waking times week before school starts. This will get us parents and kids back on schedule. Also, create a family calendar with upcoming school activities and your work schedule to make sure
that all planets are aligned, and if not, this gives you time to create a family management strategy.
4 Be Guilt Free: I think the hardest thing about being a working mom during back-to-school is missing school events. The hallmarks of the beginning of the school year like Fall Festival or Meet the Teacher are big events for the kids. Missing them can make you feel disconnected from their little lives and the guilt can take over. This is also difficult because you miss the chance to meet other parents and classmates at these events. You start to feel like a constant outsider because you are the mom who isn’t around enough. Don’t beat yourself up or hold yourself to an impossible standard. Know that you are doing everything that you can to accommodate both school and work and that you are still present in your kids lives, even when you can’t physically be with them.
5 Connect with other working moms: I have a lot of wonderful friends who are stay-at-home moms. They tend to keep me grounded and I rely on them a lot for my sanity. Working mom friends
can be super supportive too because they are most likely experiencing the same emotions and situations. For overall complaining, coping and time management ideas your working mom friends will happily listen and help you. In addition, their schedules will most likely parallel yours, so for all of those 2:30 play dates you have missed, you can now do play dates on schedules that accommodate the work day. The silver lining here is that you get to solidify strong relationships with other women who will stand by you when you need support. Managing back-to-school time will never be perfect or fool proof, but working outside of the home can bring on some added stress. It is balancing act that can cause disruption as you get adjusted to the new school year and schedules. Know that you are not alone, and we are all muddling through it together. Before this initiative, registration forms and absentee ballots were processed with other outgoing mail in jail facilities, which is subject to security procedures that may have inadvertently caused missed deadlines. Incarcerated individuals will now fill out and submit forms directly to staff who will ensure registration forms and absentee ballots are delivered to the Board of Elections in a timely manner. There are currently many incarcerated individuals in City jails who are eligible to vote. Pathways to STEM connects students interested in science, technology, engineering, and medicine with fellow high-achieving Envision alumni. “I am extremely proud of Kennedy- this is a great opportunity for learning and gaining exposure to STEM opportunities and offsite experiences,” said Legislator Abrahams. Kennedy Abrahams is an eager-to-learn student at St. Josephs School, where she will be entering the 5th grade in the fall. Kennedy has been accepted to the National Youth
Leadership Forum “Pathway to STEM Alumni," a program that provides elementary school students across the nation with the opportunity to deepen their exposure to STEM skills and careers. “The NYLF Pathways to STEM Alumni” program provides students with the opportunity to build upon their previous Envision experience and further cultivate their passion for STEM. Students accepted in this six-day program will participate in group activities such as first responder rescue missions to save a robot, visit museums, science centers to explore interactive exhibits, and in labs and workshops. “I’m thrilled to be accepted to this National STEM program. I look forward to an engaging week of learning and innovative study,” said Kennedy Abrahams.

Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport), in partnership with the Uniondale Fire District, Glory House Recovery, Inc., the Nassau County Police Department, Heeling Soles, Inc., the Long Island Nets, Healthfirst and UnitedHealthCare present National Night Out at the Uniondale Fire District’s Sherman Van Ness Fire Station on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Held in thousands of communities each year on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is a crime prevention and awareness initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing police and residents together in a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
