That’s a Wrap!

Wow! Just like that, we have closed the books on NYSEF’s 50th season on snow - and boy, was it a good one! Our athletes wrapped up their competitive season in March and April, with many travelling across the country to compete in regional and national championship events

Freeride Junior Coach Hunter Goodwin brought home the National Championship in Men’s Junior Skier Cross, with Northwood School’s Clayton Fuller placing second On the alpine side, our Whiteface U14s won the overall State Championships for both genders as well as top team honors while our U16s took four out of six individual state championships, qualifying three athletes for National Championships. At Mount Van Hoevenberg, our Junior Race Team took on the competition at Junior National Championships, battling tough weather conditions over the course of the week, while the Devo Race Team wrapped up their season at the NENSA Bill Koch League Festival in Ripton, VT.

Although the ski season has ended, we still have lots happening at NYSEF this Summer and Fall! Join us for the Annual NYSEF Golf Tournament in June, check out our growing on-snow camp offerings, and keep an eye out for our summer programming launch later this month on our website

See you out there!

Demong Inducted into US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame

On Saturday, March 23rd, The US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame inducted their 2023 Class at Black Rock Mountain Resort in Heber City, Utah, which included NYSEF Nordic Combined alum and Olympic Gold medalist Billy Demong. This year ’ s class also included Shannon Bahrke, Les Otten, Ross Anderson, Hank Kashiwa, Mike Porter, Jake Moe, and Dave Moe.

The official Hall of Fame Ceremony kicked off on Saturday night with a reception and banquet for inductees and their families Demong had to balance his time between the induction and its related events throughout the week. Thursday featured a trivia party; Friday, a skiing with legends event and Saturday, the ceremony and an afterparty. After the induction of the 2023 Class, the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame has a total of 463 members, only 137 of which are still living today.

“The Ski Hall of Fame does a really good job at planning a really full week,” said Demong, one of the Hall’s younger inductees at 43 years old “It’ll resonate with a lot of Parkites, we live busy lives, which is partially why I fell in love with living here, there’s just so many opportunities.”

Demong made a name for himself in 2007 with a silver medal at the World Championships in the 15km Gundersen event. In 2009, he won the 10km large hill event at the World Championships, followed by Olympic Gold in Vancouver in 2010, where he became the first US athlete to win gold in a nordic event. Demong is a five-time Olympian, and now spends his time in Park City with his family, where he continues to coach nordic combined athletes at the U12 and U14 level
