Farewell Letter from the 2025 Chair
A
2025: The Year in
… John Carola
s 2025 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on what has truly been a landmark year. When I began this journey, I centered our theme on The Nexus of Science and Beauty—a reminder that the NYSCC is at its best when it connects people, ideas, and disciplines to move our industry forward. Looking back, I could not be prouder of how that theme came to life through collaboration, innovation, and community. An exciting milestone this year was the launch of the Catalyst Club, expanding our support of small businesses and entrepreneurs. We also introduced the MVP Program, recognizing outstanding volunteers who make this chapter thrive. Collaboration was a defining thread of 2025, from joint initiatives with sister chapters to expanded partnerships with CEW, IBA, Sensory Professional Group, and other organizations across the industry. Our Monthly Educational Meetings drew record attendance, reflecting the appetite for highquality, science-forward programming. We also amplified outreach—speaking at universities throughout the region to introduce students to careers in cosmetic science—and awarded a record number of scholarships and grants, reinforcing our commitment to the next generation. A major milestone this year was the redesign of the NYSCC website, enhancing access and engagement for our growing membership. And of course, we delivered the largest Suppliers’ Day in chapter history, a vibrant showcase of global innovation and collaboration. My heartfelt thanks goes to my incredible 2025 Executive Board—Amber Evans, Mythili Nori, Diane Dabkowski, and Anushka Nadkarni—your support, creativity, and collaboration helped drive these accomplishments from vision to reality. I am also indebted to the remarkable committee chairs, Suppliers’ Day management team, and countless volunteers whose commitment is the heartbeat of this chapter. It has been an honor to serve as your Chair. I am grateful for the trust you placed in me and deeply proud of what we achieved together. I look forward to supporting our incoming leadership and continuing to champion the mission of the NYSCC as we stride into an exciting new year. Please accept my warmest wishes for a wonderful holiday season.

Letter from the 2026 Chair
A
2025: The Year in
… Anushka Nadkarni
s we bring this remarkable year to a close, I am honored and truly excited to step into the role of Chair for 2026. Serving alongside John Carola throughout 2025 has been both inspiring and enlightening. John, your leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to advancing cosmetic science have strengthened our chapter and created a powerful foundation for the year ahead. Thank you for your support, steady guidance, and for championing collaboration at every turn. I am grateful to continue working with you as our Advisor in the year to come. Reflecting on 2025, it is clear that our community thrives when we work together. This past year’s theme, The Nexus of Science and Beauty, not only elevated our educational initiatives but also underscored the unique role the NYSCC and Suppliers’ Day play as the focal point of beauty and personal care product development. That spirit of collaboration will remain a guiding force for us in 2026. Looking ahead, my theme for next year—Breaking Beauty Boundaries with Science—captures the ambition, curiosity, and creativity that define our Chapter. In the coming year, we will continue expanding NYSCC’s global reach and celebrating the incredible diversity of our membership. Ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all will remain at the heart of every initiative. We will also explore new avenues for scientific storytelling and knowledge exchange, including the re-launch of an NYSCC podcast designed to highlight the science behind our industry in fresh, engaging ways. Strengthening outreach to students and young professionals will be another key priority, as they represent the future of cosmetic science and the next generation of NYSCC leadership. Our collaboration with SCC National and sister chapters will deepen as we work collectively to elevate education, innovation, and community across the broader SCC network. Together with the 2026 Executive Board, I look forward to breaking new boundaries, fostering innovation, and elevating the science that drives us forward. Thank you again for this honor. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a New Year filled with health, hope, and continued success.

Celebrating Innovation: NYSCC Partners with CEW to Honor 31 Women Shaping the Future of Beauty 2025: The Year in
O
n November 19th, the beauty industry gathered at Dream Downtown in New York City to celebrate a milestone moment: the inaugural CEW Innovators Awards, presented by Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) in partnership with the NYSCC. Thirty-one exceptional women across formulation, product development, R&D, design, and sustainability were honored for driving scientific and creative breakthroughs that are redefining the beauty landscape. NYSCC Chair John Carola highlighted the strong alignment between CEW’s new program and the NYSCC’s ongoing mission to champion education, innovation, and scientific excellence. “We are especially proud to see science and creativity celebrated together, because it is at that intersection that true innovation happens,” Carola said. “The work of these thirty-one honorees not only raises the bar for products consumers use every day, but also inspires the next generation of scientists, chemists, and industry professionals.” The ceremony’s keynote was delivered by viral beauty creators Alexis Androulakis and Dr. Christina Basias Androulakis, widely known as The Lipstick Lesbians. With their signature blend of sharp insight and social fluency, they explored the powerful—and sometimes precarious—role of social media in shaping product narratives and consumer expectations. Dr. Christina emphasized why celebrating women in scientific roles is essential: “Honoring women in formulation, chemistry, product development, sustainability, and emerging innovation is not just symbolic— it’s essential. You are the ones shaping the true future of beauty.”
