James Kinnamont

For Digital Solutions & Predictive Systems Developer, James Kinnamont, life is an adventure! James, who was born in California, spent 20 years performing in his family’s circus There he learned to juggle, eat fire, unicycle, and balance 120 pounds on his chin but it was also there that he learned about media and marketing He began coding at 14, learned more about computers and went on to get a degree in Mechatronics

James eventually made his way to Tennessee and joined Nyrstar 2 years ago as our Reliability Engineer before taking on his current role which focuses on deploying digital solutions and systems to help predict failures on assets before they happen. What he enjoys most about his job is solving the curious puzzles that tap into Nyrstar's potential and solving problems that will make operations more efficient.

James is married with two kids and enjoys hunting, camping and just spending time in nature. He also enjoys playing music and tinkering away on small robotic systems and 3D printers. His positive attitude is infectious, and he leaves a smile with everyone he meets.

As we enter a new fiscal year and approach the holiday season, it is important that we prioritize our focus on what is most important, our people! So, let’s continue working as a team to ensure that each and every one of us returns home safely and in the same condition (or better!) than we start our days in 2025!

Upon reflection of FY24, we have many things to be proud of here at East Tennessee Mines starting with Immel Mine achieving 2 years LTI free with Coy Mine, Young Mine and Mill/M&S approaching 3 Years, 3 Years and 13 Years LTI free, respectively. In Q4 FY24, ETN also broke historic records for infill drilling (13.9 km, Sep 2024), monthly lateral development (703 m, Aug 2024) and Young Mine beat their previous 2019 annualized production record, finishing the year with 1,060,468 DMT of ore produced. These are just some of the great things happening at ETN Mines and are a testament to the dedication, teamwork, ownership, and passion for excellence here on site!

The excitement continues as we head into FY25, which is set to be a challenging but defining time for both our history and our future as ETN Mines. The new fiscal year presents an opportunity to take the next step in our journey toward Zero Harm by sustaining our LTI free accomplishments in parallel with increased focus on injury and incident prevention. We will achieve this through collaboration and commitment to new Fatal Risk management standards, increasing the frequency and quality of visible FELT leadership and investing in our people through improved training systems. A strong safety foundation is essential in our pursuit of increased production as we target 2.2 Mtpa ore produced in 2025, a 10% uplift from the previous year. And finally, to ensure the future success and sustainability of ETN Mines, 2025 is the dawn of a new era in operational efficiency, cost management and capital allocation to maximize the reliability and the return on our world class assets.

It is a pleasure to be a part of the collaboration, excitement and momentum building here at ETN Mines and I look forward to the bright future we have ahead of us both locally and globally within Nyrstar. Mat Harding, GM

Kudos to two Nyrstar Clarksville employees for applying their innovative concepts, which have significantly enhanced operational efficiency.

Under the lead of James Kinnamont, Digital Solutions & Predictive Systems Developer, the team launched a network of monitoring sensors that capture early failure modes in assets, saving approximately 1 5 million dollars in potential losses

JanDavid Fernandez created an online form that allows Clarksville employees to submit Stop Observations reports digitally by scanning a QR code The data from these reports help to minimize safety hazards at the site This approach is currently being rolled out across all Nyrstar sites

Their efforts are in line with our core values and demonstrate EXCELLENCE within our organization

Despite being on vacation, Randy Wall still made his way to the site over a recent weekend to inspect the candle filters when there was a question about whether or not they needed to be replaced

His inspection revealed that the filters did need to be replaced, which resulted in getting a contractor on site sooner than later

Although he wasn’t asked to come in, because of his dedication to EXCELLENCE, there were no delays, and the outage was not extended.
