Barbecue Grilling Safety Tips

The easy days of outdoor cooking is here and truly welcomed. For the more creative, barbecue gourmet, outdoor cooking can be raised to an art form when various marinade sauces and shishka-bob specialties are devised. No matter what your cooking style, there is one area that should remain constant with everyone... safety. Has your barbecue grill been left out during the severe winter months, or did you store it in a protective area? Keeping your grill covered and out of winter elements can increase the life of your equipment. Even during summer and high usage, it is a good idea to have a cover for your grill when it is season, take extra time to check the various parts to make sure they have not rusted, worn or come apart since last season. Replace any that have malfunctioned so your equipment is in tiptop shape. A friend related a dangerous situation that occurred when using her propane grill for the was on, lighted and everything she went into the house to get the meat to cook. Take extra precaution when cleaning your grill for is using spray oven cleaners and a stiff wire sure the barbecue grill is turned off and not hooked up to the gas lines during cleaning. Before spraying the oven cleaner, check to see which way the nozzle is pointing. Too often, in haste the potent chemical does hit the grill, but in someone’s eyes because a quick check of the nozzle was not taken.
