March Divisional Meeting

MARCH DIVISIONALMEETING

On February 28th, Division 10 held a virtual divisional meeting in New Dorp. At around 5 p.m., the meeting began with Maggie, our LTG, doing the Key Club pledge and attendance. This time, the meeting had members from Tottenville HS, New Dorp HS, Staten Island Technical HS, Curtis HS, and Wagner HS! Unfortunately, this meeting was virtual, but Maggie told us about plans for the final divisional to be in-person again. She then proceeded to bring us updates regarding Division 10, Key Club, and its events. Regarding Division 10, Maggie introduced our new Lieutenant Governor, Guseyn Zarbaliyev! Guseyn acquainted himself with the division and expressed his excitement for the next service year. Furthermore, Maggie informed us of the numerous Division 10 awards, such as the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster, Distinguished / Outstanding Key Clubber, and the Outstanding Club Award. Next, Maggie conveyed that the deadline to register for the Leadership Training Conference was coming up and Mr. Gioia pitched in, stressing the significance and benefits of attending the conference. Moreover, Maggie told us that it is time to hold elections for new officers within our clubs, which can either be held as an interview or as a vote. Further updates on Division events included Charity Miles, Key Buddies, and Solely Sunshine, a new divisional event where one writes letters in order to help boost the mood of people with mental health disorders. After Maggie ’ s updates, each club President took turns to share their updates, and as usual, it was very interesting to find out what events each club is participating in, some of which other clubs would possibly never find out about if it wasn ’t for the divisional. Towards the end, Mr. Gioia was given his time to speak. He further explained to us what will happen at LTC and explained that if people want to go and have money issues, they can always go to him or to Kiwanis for aid. As I left the meeting, I reflected on this past service year and was very proud of our Division ’ s and LTG’ s hard work and accomplishments!
