A Summer People Will Talk About for Another 250 Year

There are summers in New York that feel familiar, and then there are summers that feel larger than the city itself.

This is shaping up to be one of those summers.

As America approaches its 250th year, New York City once again finds itself not just reflecting history, but helping shape how it is remembered. The celebrations will stretch across boroughs, neighborhoods, and public spaces—each adding its own layer to a season defined by movement, gathering, and shared experience.

From Times Square, you can feel how that energy builds.

In New York, moments don’t stay contained. They expand outward—becoming conversations, connections, and stories that outlast the season itself.

A celebration in one part of the city becomes part of the rhythm everywhere else. A performance becomes a shared reference point. A single summer night becomes something people carry forward long after they’ve left.

This is what makes America's 250th anniversary in New York different. It isn’t a single moment. It is many moments happening at once.

Visitors will arrive with their own reasons for being here. Families marking milestones. Friends reconnecting across distance. Travelers stepping into the city for the first time during a moment they know will feel different from any other.

“ Some summers are remembered for what happened. Others are remembered for how everything felt at once

And at the center of it all, places like the New York Marriott Marquis become part of how that story is experienced.

In Times Square, the city doesn’t feel distant—it feels immediate. Layered. Constantly unfolding. At the New York Marriott Marquis, we see that energy move through the building every day. It arrives with the city in the morning. It gathers in our spaces throughout the day. And it returns again in the evening, as guests reconnect with the rhythm of the city just beyond our doors. Our role is simple: to be the place where that energy comes together.

Where the pace of Times Square briefly softens. Where conversations continue after the city has moved on. Where moments from outside become part of something shared inside.

This summer will bring that into even sharper focus.

The city will be full of movement—celebrations, meetings, arrivals, departures, and everything in between. And within that flow, guests will experience New York not as something they pass through, but something they are part of. Because that is what this city does best. It doesn’t stand still long enough to be observed. It invites you into it.

And when it does, the experience stays with you long after you leave. Some summers are remembered for what happened. Others are remembered for how everything felt at once.

This feels like a summer that will be remembered for both.

We look forward to welcoming you into it. Wonderful Hospitality. Always.

WHERE AMERICA’S STORY TAKES THE STAGE

A conversation with Hamilton’s, Nikisha Williams, on America's 250th

NIKISHA WILLIAMS

ELIZA HAMILTON, NATIONAL TOUR OF HAMILTON

A Broadway performer, vocalist, and educator, Nikisha Williams is best known for her acclaimed portrayal of Eliza Hamilton. Her work blends powerful storytelling with a deep commitment to mentorship and elevating diverse voices in musical theater.

As New York prepares for America’s 250th anniversary, Broadway remains one of the most powerful places to experience the nation’s story. Each night, history is brought to life through performance—connecting past and present in ways that feel immediate and deeply human. At the center of it all, New York Marriott Marquis sits at the heart of Times Square, where the energy of the stage meets the spirit of the city.

Few shows have captured that connection like Hamilton. Here, Nikisha Williams shares her perspective on storytelling, legacy, and America at 250.

WHAT MADE HAMILTON RESONATE SO STRONGLY WITH AUDIENCES?

Hamilton resonates because it reminds us that history is not frozen in a textbook. These were real people making impossible choices—about legacy, family, freedom, power, and belonging. Told through a musical language that feels like today, it allows audiences to see themselves in the story and brings the past closer to the present.

THE THEME OF THIS FEATURE IS “WHERE AMERICA’S STORY MEETS THE BROADWAY STAGE.” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?

That phrase captures exactly what Hamilton does. Each night, we told the story of America’s founding through the voices and rhythms of America today. It’s not just about looking back—it’s about recognizing that America’s story is still being written.

HOW DID THE SHOW CONNECT AMERICA’S PAST WITH THE PRESENT?

IThe show made history feel human. It gave familiar figures urgency, humor, ambition, and contradiction. The music made it immediate, but the themes—immigration, legacy, division, love—are what make it timeless.

WHAT DID PORTRAYING ELIZA HAMILTON TEACH YOU ABOUT STORYTELLING AND REMEMBRANCE?

Portraying Eliza taught me that history is shaped not only by those who make noise, but by those who preserve and protect the truth afterward. She transforms pain into purpose and ensures stories are not forgotten. That showed me that remembrance can be both an act of love and an act of justice.

AS AMERICA APPROACHES ITS 250TH ANNIVERSARY, WHAT ROLE DOES THEATER PLAY?

Theater gives us a place to experience history together. It allows us to gather in a room and feel something in real time. It can celebrate, question, and imagine all at once—helping us engage with the past in a way that feels human.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE AUDIENCES TAKE AWAY FROM SEEING HAMILTON?

I hope they leave feeling inspired and maybe even challenged. The show asks you to think about legacy—not just Alexander Hamilton’s, but your own. What are you building? Who are you fighting for? Who will tell your story?

“ America’s story is still being written—and Broadway allows us to see ourselves inside of it.

From intimate performances to bespoke corporate and leisure events, Nikisha Williams is available for exclusive engagements that bring the spirit of Broadway directly to your audience.
