NYC Salt is an artist-led digital photography residency that creates opportunities for teens from New York City public schools to expand their artistic practice and achieve higher education through the lens of a camera.
Through a long-time partnership, Nikon has provided Salt students with top camera equipment to learn from the very best tools. Nikon has been instrumental in helping Salt bring young artists to the forefront of storytelling practices in NYC and beyond.
Our latest collaboration was born out of a project for Salt students to take a photograph of their roots in New York City. Four students’ — Oliver, Kiliko, Inti, and Danieli’s — photographs were then incorporated into limited-edition camera straps, designed, printed, and sewed by the Nikon team.
Expanding Salt’s partnership with Nikon to include creative design was an exciting opportunity for students to learn a new trade, explore different ways their photographs can appear in the world, and apply their craft to all art forms.
A portion of all sales go towards NYC Salt programming. Nikon is so excited to continue our partnership to support emerging artists across NYC!
