The Horace Mann Laboratory School and the Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families provide a clinical experience for pre-service teachers as well as a diverse and interactive learning environment for children ages three through sixth grade.

The Dean L. Hubbard Center for Innovation features more than $3 million of state-of-the-art instruments that undergraduate students may access to gain profession-based experience.

What is financial aid?

Financial aid is money available from federal, state, institutional and private sources to help students and their families meet college costs. Financial assistance is designed to assist families in paying for the cost of attending college.

There are four main types of financial aid: scholarships, grants, work study and loans.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Merit-based “gift aid” that does not have to be repaid.

Awarded at the time of admission.

GRANTS

Need-based “gift aid” that does not have to be repaid such as the Federal Pell Grant or Missouri Access Grant.

WORK STUDY

Work programs, which include the Federal Work-Study Program and Northwest’s work program, allow students to earn money for their education while enrolled in classes. View Northwest student employment opportunities at visit nwmissouri.edu/hr/student/jobs.

LOANS

Student and parent loans: borrowed money that must be repaid, with interest.

The cost of attendance is an estimate of the educational expenses for the academic year including tuition and required fees, room and board, books and supplies and other personal expenses.

How to apply for financial aid • Beginning Oct. 1, submit a 2020-21 FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov or by mailing a paper FAFSA directly to the central processor.

• List Northwest’s school code (002496) on the FAFSA so that we may receive your results.

• It is strongly recommended that the IRS Data Retrieval Tool is used to transfer 2018 IRS income tax information on the FAFSA. • Keep your address current with the University. All financial aid materials and requests will be mailed to your permanent address.
