Everything you need to know about the ISDN switch-off From December 2020, Openreach will no longer accept any new orders or amendments to services for ISDN products.

What is ISDN? ISDN was a technology introduced in the 1980s, which allowed both voice and data services to be delivered simultaneously over a digital phone line. It’s been used for many years but very soon Openreach will switch the technology off, making traditional ISDN phone systems obsolete.

How will the switch-off impact your business?

With ISDN now viewed as a legacy network and all investment ending, it’s becoming harder to manage and maintain. As each year passes your traditional business telephone system will become prone to problems. The ISDN switch-off will have a significant impact on your business unless you migrate your systems over to a hosted telephony service.
