Business Battlefords Campus The one-year Business certificate program gives you a well-rounded business foundation for entry-level positions. You’ll learn core business concepts: accounting, finance, management, computers, marketing, human resources and more.
Supporting Rural Entrepreneurship One project the Leoville Level 4 class completed was a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) project with a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship. Students designed the baby star blanket business case, created and also marketed the blankets. Partnering with a quilt shop in Spiritwood, the students’ blankets were then sold to customers.This integration of real work made the learning outcomes more relevant to the students.
Office Administration Battlefords Campus Meadow Lake Campus Office Administration is a one-year certificate program that provides knowledge and skill development related to the business office environment. This program will have an emphasis on computer applications. Instruction will include projects that will give you a hands-on understanding of the demands and rewards of work in an office setting.

MEGAN WRIGHT Hairstylist - Battlefords Campus
Megan had an amazing year as a hairstyling student, finding herself winning silver at the Provincial Skills Canada competition in April. Megan then accepted the challenge of preparing for a national competition, taking her first flight and attending the National Skills Canada competition in Halifax, Nova Scotia, without a coach on site. Megan rose to the occasion and won gold at nationals! A very proud moment for Megan, her family and the College. Receiving the Presidents Achievement Scholarship, valued at $1500, was also a big accomplishment for Megan. Nominated by her instructor, Megan exemplified strong leadership skills, strength of character and a positive attitude, earning her this award. Megan is now enjoying her career in a dynamic and creative industry, working at Phase 4 in North Battleford, applying the skills she gained in the Hairstylist Program.

Make a Difference Continuing Care Assistant Battlefords Campus Meadow Lake Campus Canwood The Continuing Care Assistant program allows you to make a difference in someone’s life everyday. This program is a one-year certificate program. If you enjoy caring for others, the Continuing Care Assistant program might be right for you. You’ll work directly with clients in long-term care, home care, assisted living, and even special needs classrooms. You will help them with mobility, personal care, assisting them to eat their meals and medication monitoring. Your clinical work experiences will give you a taste of different work settings and offer you a strong foundation as a health care support staff.
Community Mental Health Battlefords Campus (Part-time) Add tools to help you support clients and patients, as well as promote mental health. This is a great professional development option for students to take on a part-time basis. The program provides you with the knowledge and skills you need to work effectively everyday with mental health and wellness issues. This can range through depression, addiction and trauma recovery. The program focuses on awareness and prevention, supportive intervention, treatment strategies, and advocacy and collaboration with community partners.

Battlefords Campus Psychiatric Nursing is a two-and-a-halfyear diploma program delivered through blended learning via classes, labs and practicums. Experienced faculty will help you link theory with practice to help clients with mental illness, psychiatric disorders and developmental and/or cognitive difficulties function at their maximum potential. You will build a strong foundation in psychiatric nursing practice, including health assessment and interventions; mental health challenges; counselling models and therapeutic relationships; family and community partnerships; psychotropic pharmacology; and addictions and forensics.

Youth Care Worker Certificate Battlefords Campus North West College is offering the one-year Youth Care Worker Certificate program as it has transfer credit towards social work and justice studies degrees. The Youth Care Worker program will help you develop the skills you need to build healthy relationships with children, youth and families. You will get practical experience planning and implementing activities geared towards youth. You will learn about addictions, the criminal justice system, behavioural intervention strategies, therapeutic activities, and Indigenous awareness, among other topics making you a valuable support staff for youth in your community.

Hands on Training Carpentry Meadow Lake Campus
TRADES
This certificate program will get you started in the largest trade in the construction industry. You’ll need good problem-solving skills, a solid work ethic and the ability to work on your own or as part of a team. When you graduate, you’ll be qualified for jobs with construction companies, general contractors and subcontractors, or in the maintenance departments of school boards, health districts, mining operations and government departments.
Electrician Meadow Lake Campus Electrician is an applied certificate program in a field that is in demand. You will acquire entry level skills training in electrical installations and perform maintenance duties according to industry standards. Forest to Fork Meadow Lake Campus The Forest to Fork Program introduces students to three different post-secondary choices including the Integrated Resource Management Diploma, Retail Meat Specialist Applied Certificate and the Professional Cooking Certificate. ADULT BASIC EDUCATION
Many adults who did not complete a high school program have continued to learn through a variety of experiences encountered in everyday life. The purpose of the GED testing program is to provide an opportunity for these individuals to have their learning evaluated and recognized and used for work or post secondary studies. Although the GED test represents less of a time commitment than a high school diploma, it’s not academically easier. The test is graded on an equivalency scale compared to current high school students. Prepare for and write the GED with the help of one or more of the following supports:
GED® College Supports Assessment: Assess your readiness to write the GED and find out if the GED diploma is the right path to meet your goals by taking part in the regularly scheduled Adult Basic Education intake testing process (see website for upcoming dates). No charge.
Materials The GED® study guide, available at the College bookstore, is a valuable tool for students preparing for GED® testing. The guide provides extensive review in all 5 test areas as well as answers with full explanations. Cost: $25

Level 1 - Literacy
Level 3 - Adult 10
Level 1 Literacy programs are designed to help adult learners in their everyday lives as family members, community members, and workers. The focus is on those general skills, abilities, and aptitudes needed to function in day-to-day life.
Level 2 programs can be focused on academics or employment readiness. They are designed to develop skills, attitudes and abilities to help students gain prerequisites for further training or employment. They focus on enhancing skills such as technological literacy, communication skills, portfolio development and life skills.
Essential Skills for the Workplace (ESWP) ESWP programs focus on providing learners with enhanced literacy and numeracy skills, as well as incorporating employment information and readiness (including work placements) into programs. The programs will assist participants to enter the workforce.
Level 4 students are required to complete seven 30-Level credits including: English (2 credits), Math (1 credit), Science (1 credit), Social Studies (1 credit), and Electives (2 credits). Students may be eligible to receive a Prior Learning Credit as one of their electives if they have 20 weeks of full-time work experience or have completed a course that is equal in weight and rigor to a 30-level course.

Level 3 courses (Communications, Social Studies, Life/Work Studies, Mathematics and Science) are designed for people who want to build on their knowledge and skills. Learners who complete Level 3 successfully go on to further education, training, or employment opportunities.

If English is not your first language, this opportunity is for you. Improve your English speaking, listening, reading, and writing while learning more about Canada and other topics useful for a more successful life in Canada Classes are part-time, mornings or evenings, and are for beginner to advanced speakers. Permanent residents, temporary workers, and Canadian Citizens (8 years or less) are eligible to attend. • • • • •

Conversation Circle A Conversation Circle is an excellent opportunity to practice English-speaking and listening skills, meet new friends and learn about culture and customs. This free program is offered in many communities and provides participants a chance to learn in a welcoming environment. The Conversation Circle is open to adult Permanent Residents, Temporary Workers and new Citizens. Computers for the New User This course is for learners who are completely new to computer use. Students will learn about computer parts, kinds for computers, basic functions, storage devices, where and how to create and store files and folders and how to access the internet.
ABCs of Computer Literacy Discover your computer’s capabilities and become familiar with the Windows environment and file management. Develop proficiency with the internet, email, and Microsoft Word through hands on practice. You will be introduced to the potential of Excel and Powerpoint. This is a beginner class.

Managing Data with Spreadsheets, Databases and More This course is designed to give learners a more advanced proficiency in Spreadsheets (with focus on Microsoft Excel), and an introduction to Database programming (Microsoft Access). Excel Basics Learn how to create electronic spreadsheets and discover the basics of storing, organizing and manipulating data. This overview of Excel Level 1 includes the basics of using the toolbar, formatting, formulas and functions.
Are you looking to make Excel do more work for you? Learn to work with multiple sheets, relative/absolute cell referencing, formulas with arithmetic and comparison operators and other advanced formatting to get more from your Excel program.
Use PowerPoint to take your next presentation from dull to dynamic! Quickly learn what you need to know to create, edit, and modify simple presentations. This course will introduce the basic commands, functions and capabilities of Microsoft PowerPoint.
Word Basics Learn the basic skills to create electronic letters using Microsoft Word. This introduction to word processing provides an overview of the functions required to get you started with creating and formatting a document.
Word Advanced A look at the advanced features of Word including mail merges, labels, charts, tables and other tools useful for designing brochures and newsletters. Learn about Word, the web and integrating with other Microsoft components.
