The stars aligned when a
girl from Japan met a boy from Missouri. The odds of their meeting were one in a billion, but the universe had something special in mind for Jessica and Lance.
T
hey met while working at the same news station in Shreveport. Lance remembers the first time he saw Jessica because he knew it was the beginning of a beautiful adventure. It was a dark room, inside the director’s booth. She barely noticed him but he couldn’t take his eyes, or mind off her. The first time he took her out, he brought his A-Game because he knew he couldn’t mess up a chance to be with her. Their love grew over time as
they bonded over sports, travel, laughter and a passion for the outdoors. Jessica loves flowers, nature, her family and anything that reminds her of Japan. Lance knew that, so he picked a Japanese garden in Springfield, Missouri for their engagement. It was a beautiful setting, filled with clear spring water and vibrant, colorful plants, like an artist’s painting.

On October 3, 2015, he took Jessica on a stroll through the garden. At the end of their walk, he took her hand and led her step-by-step over stones that lifted them above a body of water and to a pergola. Months before, Lance had arranged for Jessica’s friends and family to be there for the special moment. He took his mom to the garden several weeks before, and showed her where to hide the guests. They were all concealed behind trees, near the pergola. When Lance dropped to his knee, he was so nervous that he didn’t know what he was saying. He must have said the right thing, because she said yes and everyone came out to surprise the newly engaged couple. It was a perfect combination of everything that Jessica loved. Lance knew that, he loved that, and that’s why he chose to marry her.

Both prefer the road less traveled. In fact, the road to their wedding venue was far off the beaten path. There's no cell reception at the chapel and a GPS won't get you there, but that's just one of the reasons why they're a perfect match. Both took the scenic route to one another, and neither needed a GPS to know they found the love of their life. They knew they found the right place because they found each other. Jessica and Lance's wedding day was filled with joy, laughter, dancing and most of all, love. You could feel it in the air. The day was perfect - the best day of their lives.

Kelly and I met not long after I (Leslie) was transferred to Northwest Arkansas with my job. We were both divorced and Kelly was a single dad to two boys, 8 and 11. We dated for a short time but had drifted apart. Honestly, I was a hot mess, I was dealing with the ghosts of my previously abusive marriage and I wasn’t the easiest person to get along with… I had
really cared about me and if I ever needed a friend, he would be there for me…..and he meant it. I knew right then that he was my man! Less than a year later we were married and it’s been a roller coaster ride ever since….stepping into my role as a stepmom was not easy, but it was totally worth it! Kelly is the funniest person I know and laughter along the journey has been our saving grace! He has modeled selfless love to me and the boys for the past (almost) 24 years! Those boys are now 33 and 36. We have four beautiful grandchildren and a sweet life together. I think the thing that has made our marriage work is that we allow
...and he meant it built a bit of a fortress around myself and my heart. God knew that I needed a sweet, gentle soul, like Kelly to melt all of that away. I knew that Kelly was the one for me when he called one night, out of the blue, to tell me that he
