yle and I met in college and were acquaintances for many years. His college house often had gatherings and I would sometimes drop by. I always knew who he was but never attempted to date him. My favorite memory of him during those years was a camping trip. He gave up his tent and air mattress for me to sleep on because I hadn't planned appropriately. (Which is still how our relationship works today- he's the over-packer and I'm the under-packer!)

Many years after college, our group of mutual friends started playing matchmaker. They made us ride together on a hiking trip, left the seat open next to him and made sure we were always in close proximity. It took about 2 months and the rest is history!

We dated for about a year before an annual trip to Eureka Springs in February 2017 changed things. Kyle and our group of 20+ friends orchestrated the whole weekend and kept everything a secret from me! When we arrived in Eureka, we split off with 4 of our closest friends to take pictures at the Christ of the Ozarks.

During this photo session I turned around to find Kyle on one knee. When we made it back to the hotel, we were greeted in the parking lot by the rest of our friends to celebrate. It made Eureka even more special to us!

We quickly got busy deciding wedding details. We toured a few places in Fayetteville but fell in love with the Stone Chapel at MattLane Farm. We set our date for December 16th 2017 and kept our fingers crossed that the weather would cooperate. The day of the wedding, it was gorgeous and 65-degrees. It ended up raining as the reception was ending, but rain on your wedding day is supposed to be a good sign.

There were many favorite details from the wedding day. I did a “first look” with my dad before mine and Kyle’s. That was such a special moment with the man who loved me first. My mom surprised

me and had my late maternal grandmother’s dainty gold watch restored to working condition.

I wore it along with the pearls that my paternal grandmother gave me for my 21st birthday. I also chose to wear a lace birdcage veil instead of a traditional long veil. The silver cake cutter that we used was from my parents wedding 34 years ago.

One of the fun highlights was Kyle's 94 year old "Aunt Speedy" dancing with one of the groomsmen. She definitely stole the show!

Our day was perfect in my mind because we had so many people helping make sure that it went smoothly!

The Endless Date My wife Christy and I lived in the same apartment complex in College Station, Texas. I was 23 and she was 19. We met in the laundry room. I thought (and still do) she was the prettiest girl I’d ever seen. I tried talking to her but she had little to say. It was either that she was shy or she wasn’t interested. Had to be shy.

I watched her home to see what apartment she lived in. I went to the apartment the next day (Wednesday) and invited her to a party we were having that Friday night. She said she would come! I then went back to my apartment

and told my roommate we need to put together a party for that Friday really fast. We did, and the endless date began.

I picked up Christy for a date 36 years ago and just haven’t taken her home yet. We still flirt, tease and have fun just like we did when we started dating.

I’m not saying either of us is perfect but neither were we when we started dating. We grow more in love every year and continue to show that to each other. We tell each other “I love you” at least 3-4 times every day.

Don’t let anyone tell you that marriage is hard work. Ours has never been. It shouldn’t be if you’re on the endless date with the love of your
