E MET ON THE DATING app, Bumble. We chatted for a while, learned that we had a lot in common and decided to meet. I was going on a family vacation so it would have to be upon my return that we could meet. I didn’t expect Jordan to reach back out because I thought he would have met someone else in the time that I was gone. To my surprise, he messaged me to remind me about our date! He mentioned he would be the one in the neck brace. That’s when I had learned he had a nasty tumble with a heavy backpack and had broken his neck in a few places.
Our first date was at Arsaga’s at the Depot in June 2019. We sat on the patio and chatted for a few hours while drinking coffee and tea. As soon as the date ended we exchanged numbers and continued to get to know each other. Many trips and adventures later, we found ourselves back on the Arsaga’s patio the following year, on a warm late August evening, sharing ice cream. That’s when he proposed. He said he wanted to propose at the place we first met. We had the place to ourselves, and honestly it was perfect.
We had always wanted a small wedding. We chose St. Catherine’s at Bell Gable for our ceremony because we wanted it to be intimate and cozy. I think what made our wedding/ elopement so special was that we got to design everything the way we wanted. There was some DIY-ing for sure, from the bouquets to the hair, and decorative streamers that were waved upon our exit from the chapel. We had surprise written vows and a very sweet violinist who played songs from Phantom of the Opera. I kept my dress and red cloak a surprise from just about everyone. It was totally worth it, as Jordan teared up when the chapel doors opened. Everyone said I looked like a princess. Our minister dropped out of the ceremony just two days before the wedding. We were in luck though, because my brother officiated the wedding and my father who is a pastor signed our marriage license. That was certainly very special!
The snow was the added magical touch we weren’t expecting. We actually got stuck at the chapel because someone had gotten away with the keys to our car. It gave us some extra time to be together on our special day. We were completely soaked for our shoot with Laura. She was such a trooper to photograph us in the snow, and as a result, we received the most beautiful photos!
