Vendor Spotlight
Photography by Kennedy Creative
Recognizing the intrinsic qualities beneath the unrenovated old theater in Springdale's downtown, the two owners launched a 21st-century collaboration. Downtown lacked a place that could host a variety of events and weddings, and The Apollo on Emma has become just that. When leasing space from The Apollo, there is access to the entire property from 9 am until midnight. Ceremony and reception chairs and tables, enough to seat 385 guests, in-house speakers, a cocktail lounge with a built-in bar, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, custom acoustic paneling, A/V equipment, a movie projector with a screen, as well as a covered garden ceremony patio, are all included. They also offer wedding management services and have select rentals for an additional charge. Several factors make The Apollo stand out among other venues in the area. First, they are an iconic 1948 movie theater turned into a 21st-century wedding and events venue. The space is filled with timeless art-deco styled rooms with dark 20' tall coffered
couple that their day will be professionally handled, and the only job the couple has is to show up and CELEBRATE! Leave all of the details to Heidi and The Apollo, who want the bride, groom, and guests to have
ceilings and chandeliers throughout. This isn’t a big white box that needs to be filled up with decor to create a "WOW" factor. It brings its own personality to the party! The ballroom has custom acoustic paneling, providing incredible sound quality for music and speeches. If clients choose to incorporate the wedding management feature for the big day, Heidi goes above and beyond to reassure the
an unflappable experience, knowing that they are in capable hands. Last-minute elopement? Perhaps there is a situation with the venue you had planned to use? The Apollo can make arrangements for you with as little notice as a week. They’re flexible enough to book out 2 years in advance if you’re the planning type! Clients are of the utmost importance
to Heidi and her team, and any personalization/ customization will be fulfilled to the best of their abilities. When asked what advice she would give to couples planning their wedding and how they can best work with wedding vendors like The Apollo, Heidi suggests finding the venue FIRST!!! She said, “Lock it in. You then know what you have to work with and can build from there. I suggest not hiring a wedding planner to find the venue for you. It is special for couples to find the venue that WOWS them. If a couple is having trouble finding a venue, there are a lot of online sources that list them locally and ask the right questions to direct them to the right place.” For Heidi, some of the most rewarding aspects of the business are that The Apollo's clients are left assured that they will have a successful event and that they are comfortable working within the venue before the event starts. She has staff on standby for whatever needs arise. Call Heidi at The Apollo today, a unique venue for the unique couple! 479.320.8165 theapolloonemma.com

Before Saying "I Do" Build a Spiritual Foundation Building a spiritual foundation requires faith, time, prayer, and communication. It's important to establish this foundation early so that when problems arise, the relationship doesn't buckle under the pressure. It's imperative that you are open and honest with each other rather than saying what might please the other person. Marriage is intended to be a lifetime commitment, and values play the most integral part in it all. Consider biblical premarital counseling. Don't settle for anything less than a strong spiritual foundation! Take Your Time This is a challenging one, isn't it? He pops the question. She says yes. They plan a wedding. They get married then happily ever after. The end. That's what fairy tales lead us to believe! There is so much in-between that isn't considered until we're in the midst of it. It's important to have patience, take time, and invest more in the relationship than in the wedding itself. Future In-Laws Marrying your fiancé must come with the understanding that, whether you like it or not, you're marrying into the family as well! There can be lots of interference from outside forces, and family can
be a significant part of this. Don't forget—your family could be playing into this, too! Make it comfortable for your future spouse to have these discussions. Be open to boundaries and compromise. Evaluate Communication Styles Isn't it interesting how, for the most part, our top priority is to communicate our own thoughts and feelings rather than listen to someone else's? Guilty! If we make it a priority to listen to, and learn about the other person, then we can move forward with better understanding and less conflict. We also tend to start a conversation believing we're right. Here are some tips to open lines of communication and create a safe place to open up: • Be concise and direct, no exaggeration. • Let it roll— not everything should be taken personally. • Hoe your own row— don't push your own thoughts and feelings, avoid criticizing. • Take responsibility— each party plays a part in conflict. • Most importantly, listen without interruption. Discuss Financial Decisions and Expectations Before saying "I Do," discuss financial goals. Oftentimes, financial discussions are put on the back burner until after
the honeymoon. Don't make this mistake! Ask open-ended questions regarding retirement plans, home ownership, paying off debt, and future career plans. If there are sensitive financial concerns from either party's background, these need to be brought to light and discussed openly. Honest, respectful, and open discussions create intimacy—yes, even in financial matters! Discuss Future Plans What do both of you want? Where do you want to be in 5 years? 10 years? Children? Career? Build a fun bucket list together. Envision your life together serving, living, and working, and then talk about it! Nurture Emotional Connection In addition to building a strong spiritual foundation, it is vital to nurture your emotional connection. A successful marriage first relies on shared faith and values which then allows a deep emotional bond to build and increase. Take the time to understand each other's emotional needs, vulnerabilities, and strengths. Engage in activities that strengthen your emotional connection, such as spending quality time together, expressing affection, and supporting each other through life's ups and downs. By investing in your emotional connection, you'll create a solid foundation for your marriage that can withstand the tests of time.
