Discovery into Helping Alzheimer’s

Israeli researchers have found a reason why women with Alzheimer’s disease experience faster cognitive deterioration than men, leading to new developments in treating the disease.

Women suffering from Alzheimer’s have been found to generationally inherit a specific molecular mechanism from their mothers wherein their tRNA, (a part of the cell which helps build proteins) is severely depleted in the brain nuclei.

Due to this discovery scientists may be able to develop new solutions via RNAbased therapies for patients with the disease.

Professor Hermona Soreq, the Brain Gene Expert at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem who led the study says: “Our research presents a significant contribution to the existing body of Alzheimer’s research, underscoring crucial distinctions not only in disease progression but also in treatment response.”

Improved Hydration

Water is vital to our health yet most of us don’t drink our recommended eight glasses a day. But Tel Aviv-based smart packaging company impacX has a smart solution. Its smart water bottle has a cap which measures the liquid level and blinks as a hydration reminder.

The smart bottle works in combination with the mobile app Water.io to send you push notification reminders on your phone to drink more water. To make sure you reach your water drinking goals for the day, the light up cap will register green if you are on track to reach your target or red if you are behind.

ImpacX has launched the smart bottle in Israel to a positive response especially from those with medical problems, pregnant women, and sports players. With positive feedback it plans to expand its reach.
