Community Heart of the HAPPY DAYS
Chief Rabbi Mirvis recently opened the new Jewish Hub for Brighton and Hove, with a jampacked Shabbaton weekend of celebration, inspiration, and gratitude.
Chief Rabbi Ephraim and Valerie Mirvis were welcomed by BNJC CEO Marc Sugarman, Rabbi Hershel Rader of the Brighton and Hove Hebrew Congregation and project sponsor Tony Bloom, to officially open the Jewish Community hub aimed at revitalising Jewish life in the town.
Over 200 people were in attendance of the event including local Jewish community leaders, local residents, and members of Sussex Police and Brighton Council, who enjoyed a reception and L’Chaim to celebrate the stunning new space. This was followed by speeches in the outstanding new synagogue, by Chief Rabbi Mirvis, Brighton and Hove Albion Chairman, Tony Bloom,
BNJC CEO Marc Sugarman, BHHC Rabbi Hershel Rader, and BNJC Trustee Natasha Isaac.
Concluding the event was the official ribbon cutting ceremony outside the Sapphire Tube Wall by Chief Rabbi Mirvis, followed by the crowd spontaneously joining together in song to David Melech Yisrael, marking the historic start of a new chapter for the Jewish community in Brighton and
Hove.
After the Grand Opening Ceremony, The Chief Rabbi stayed on to enjoy a Shabbat with the Brighton Jewish community, accommodated in one of the brand-new homes build on-site the community hub, and with delicious kosher food catered by Novellino Brighton restaurant.
