“Good governance is increasingly critical, especially in an era where many nations are experiencing eroding trust in established institutions. In the face of major disruptive changes, it is even more salient to transform and adapt governance approaches to suit the times. This programme provides the platform to bring together leaders from different regions and backgrounds to discuss emerging trends, governance and leadership challenges, and exchange ideas and solutions. My aspiration is that each Senior Fellow will bring the insights and learning back to benefit their respective organisations and countries. This is aligned to the purpose of the Institute for Governance and Leadership, which is to enable the School to give greater attention and focus to this area, educating upcoming senior leaders in Asia to improve governance.” MS ONG TOON HUI VICE DEAN AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE FOR GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIP, LKYSPP, NUS
“The programme will be an intensive, immersive, transformative and rewarding learning experience. Participants will acquire insights into pressing global issues and rapid technological change, and the changes taking place around us and before us. They will sharpen their critical thinking and leadership skills to better deal with a world full of unknowns; from developing practical and innovative solutions that will make immense contributions to transforming their organisations and countries. Through the programme, crucial exhanges in intellectual discourse and expertise sharing will also help them to form enduring and valuable networks and understandings with other leaders in Asia.”
PROF TAN YONG SOON ADJUNCT PROFESSOR, LKYSPP, NUS SFPS PROGRAMME CO-DIRECTOR
“The programme offers a unique blend of insights and practical experiences from experts covering a wide range of topics. Underpinning every discussion and presentation in the programme is the unifying idea that the success of a nation or an organisation depends on the quality of its leadership. The effects of global events and emerging issues such as climate change and technological disruptions will be examined from the perspective of governance and the role of leaders. It will be apparent to participants that those in leadership and governance need to be flexible and nimble in the face of these challenges. The programme offers opportunities for participants to participate in deep discussions with presenters who have deep knowledge and appreciation of the forces which are shaping our world today. The programme will offer alternative perspectives on issues discussed and presented. It is hoped that through this programme participants will take away fresh perspectives and ideas to the challenges they face back home. And this in turn can contribute further to the development of the leadership capabilities of participants.” PROF YAACOB BIN IBRAHIM ADJUNCT PROFESSOR, LKYSPP, NUS SFPS PROGRAMME CO-DIRECTOR
DEEP DIVE SESSIONS
CURRICULUM The programme comprises the following components:
• Artificial Intelligence and its Implications on Public Policy • Climate Change & Sustainability
3 Leadership Develop visionary and effective leadership that empowers you to transform your organisation. Learn to identify and develop talents, inspire morale, develop capabilities, and improve synergy in a Whole of Government/ Whole of Nation strategy. Pragmatic real-world strategies will equip you for the future to lead and manage change.
International Economics & Security International economics and security are closely intertwined fields that influence global stability and integration. Economic imperatives, such as trade flows, financial globalisation, international currency, and others, contribute to fostering warm diplomatic ties, while securityrelated concerns such as geopolitics, transnational security and even the recent emergence of nationalism can significantly disrupt global economies. Major powers leverage economic tools, such as sanctions or trade agreements, to achieve geopolitical objectives, impacting both global financial markets and security. The component takes a deeper look at the prevailing issues and shifting trends, as well as to discuss the possible options to navigate the perennial uncertainties.
National Governance
Technology & Innovation
What is a “good” public policy? Discover the best way to evaluate public policies and how to adapt exemplary ones to your own situations. Through situation-based challenges, we will guide you on applying governance principles to select issues in economic and social policies.
The accelerated pace of development and the emergence of disruptive technologies pose both the opportunity for societal development as well as the risk of disrupting the society at every level.
This module includes lectures by experienced practitioners and visits to Singapore Statutory Boards to experience governance in practice.
To grasp the volatile landscape, public policy makers and corporate leaders will need keen awareness of developments in technology and an appreciation of how this can contribute to the development of policies and regulations.

Truly a transformative journey!” Ms Ana Lucía González Castro, Mayor, Municipality of Montes de Ora, Costa Rica “I really enjoyed the chemistry and camaraderie in class. It impressed me how quickly the whole class just got going right from day one. I think there was already a lot of laughter. You can feel the warmth in class and when there’s bonding, there’s trust. The depth of the questions, the depth of the sharing also deepens and expands as a result. So that is one of my greatest takeaways.” Mr Daniel Seet Siew Teck, Deputy Commissioner, Future Technology and Public Safety , Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore
