PREPARING FOR SURGERY • When your Surgeon’s office schedules your surgery with LSH, you will receive a text message to the cellular phone number provided.

• You will have the opportunity to opt out of texting when you receive the first text message.

• If you opt out of texting one of our staff will contact you to schedule a preoperative call or a “success class” (for total joint).

• Success class (for total joints) is done during the preoperative call.

• Please make arrangements for a responsible adult to be present for your discharge instructions and to drive you home. You will need someone to stay with you for 24 hours following your discharge.

• You are required to have a preoperative physical within 30 days of your surgery. If your surgeon did not instruct you to get one, you will need to clarify if they will be doing this for you.

• Please be aware that admit times may change after the preoperative nurse talks to you. We will call you with a new admission time if this happens. Please make flexible plans for the day of surgery.

• Notify your surgeon if you develop cold or flu like symptoms, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, or skin issues on or near the surgical site such as bug bites, scratches, or rash, etc.

THE DAY OF SURGERY • Bring your insurance card and photo ID. • Bring your home medications in their original bottles.

• You may be asked to provide a urine sample upon admission.

• Follow our instructions regarding eating and drinking before surgery as directed by the preoperative nurse during your phone call.

Avoid chewing gum or using tobacco products the day of surgery.

• Bring your CPAP machine if you use one.

• Take your medications as directed by the preoperative nurse during your preoperative call.

• Please avoid wearing make-up, nail polish and jewelry.

• Please leave valuables at home.

• If you have a health care power of attorney, please bring the paperwork with you on the day of surgery. If you don’t have a health care power of attorney but wish to create one, you may find forms and instructions at lincolnsurgery.com/patient-info/forms.

• If you are the guardian of a minor child or dependent adult, please bring guardianship papers with you on the day of surgery.

PATIENT PORTAL INFORMATION • We will contact you with information about signing up for Patient Portal with LSH. • Patient Portal allows you access to your medical record.

• We will need your email address to sign you up for the portal.

• When you use the Patient Portal, you will be able to fill out your medical history, which will help us to prepare for your preoperative call.

PATIENT AND FAMILY INFORMATION When you arrive at Lincoln Surgical Hospital, you may enter through Entrance C, located under the main overhang. Our professional, friendly staff will welcome you and begin your admission process.

Our cafeteria serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday.

PHARMACY

With your comfort and convenience in mind, Lincoln Surgical Hospital has developed a retail pharmacy service to dispense your new medications that are prescribed by our surgeons to you prior to leaving the hospital. With this new service, you will be able to: • Skip the lines at the pharmacy • Avoid the headache of dealing with inventory and third party limitations • Receive all of your medications before leaving the hospital • Receive counseling and have all of your questions and concerns about your medications addressed by our in-house pharmacists • Return directly to the comfort of your home so you can rest and start your recovery process • Generic medications are available at low cost of $5 per prescription This service provided by our pharmacy is completely voluntary as a convenience to our patients. If you wish to use your prescription drug insurance benefit to potentially obtain your medications at a reduced cost, you may do so at your preferred pharmacy.
