INTRODUCTION

AN ART CENTRE OR ARTS CENTER IS DISTINCT FROM AN ART GALLERY OR ART MUSEUM. NOWADAYS, THERE ARE MANY ART AMD CRAFT CENTRE WERE BUILT TO PRESERVE SOME HISTORIC AND TRADITIONAL FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE.

IN THIS PROJECT, THE MAIN IDEA FOR THIS BUILDING IS FUNCTIONING MORE IN ART AND PRODUCTION CENTRE THAT ARE DIRECTLY FOCUSED FOR KRIS. KRIS IS ONE OF HISTORIC WEAPON THAT ALWAYS BEEN USED BY MALAYSIAN PEOPLE BACK THEN FOR FIGHTING PURPOSE. WITH THIS PROJECT, IT WILL HIGHLIGHT ON PRODUCTION, EXHIBITION AND PRESERVATION PURPOSE. THIS PROJECT ALSO HAVE THREE MAIN TARGET USER WHICH ARE STAFF (FOR MAINTAINING THE MARKET VALUE OF KRIS), ARTIST (PEOPLE THAT RESPONSIBLE IN MAKING KRIS) AND PUBLIC USER (FOR EXHIBITION PURPOSE.

BEFORE GOING FURTHER ON DESIGN'S APPROACH, THERE WILL BE TWO CASE STUDIES AND USER STUDIES THAT WILL AFFECT THE DECISION MAKING.

CASE STUDY 1

THE JAPAN TEA HOUSE, UNITED STATES

The selected case study is The Tea House of Japan located in United States. The Tea House is nestled within a leafy backyard of a suburban home. Constructed of bronze and glass, the new structure references the form of a Japanese lantern and functions as a tea house, meditation space, and stage for the family's musical recitals.

With this such information, it is important to design the best space that related their behaviour. The targetted user that will come in the propose bulding, are mostly from Malaysian people. Therefore, one case study from one bulding that have been chosen to make as reference. This case study also related to the idea on having outdoor cafe area for public user.

Malaysian people has one unique culture toward having their meals. They always comfortable have their meals within in the crowded space where as they can have interaction and communication between them. Other that also, they also love to eat their meals on the floor. This is because, with having their meals on the floor, it bring the feel of humble and always in relax mood (santai).
