Within our education curriculum, we use studies to guide our lesson planning. Studies are a broad concept that we focus on for 4-6 weeks. Currently our study has been all about Animals/Pets. This month we will begin our Winter Study. If you feel your family has something special to share in regards to our upcoming study, we would love family participation. Reach out!
Louie the therapy dog and his partner Brenda visited us again this week – the most wonderful guests to end our 'All about Pets/Animals' study!
Louie and Brenda are a therapy dog team located here in Mankato. Louie is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a certified therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs since 2016. Brenda shared with us what Louie does and how she takes care of him. She also told us two questions we should always ask before petting a dog we do not know. Is your dog friendly? And may I pet them?

We have been working hard with Sam Olsen, OT with Persist Therapy, getting our sensory library ready for our families to use! Watch for details on when and how you can check out items from our sensory library, which will be located in our administrative office!
Teachers will also be able to utilize our sensory library, and children will be able to come over to the administrative office and use our quiet space if sensory breaks are needed.

OurHyggeDay+aThanksgivingMeal
A two for one the day before Thanksgiving!
Hygge Day (aka Comfy Cozy Day): we invited all staff and families to participate in a centerwide Hygge Day and dress in their coziest attire! Along with inviting everyone to dress in their comfiest best on the last day ahead of our short week, we brought out all of our lamps and kept the lights low all day, and had calming music on in the community room throughout meals.
While the International Hygge Day is actually on February 28th, we felt that it was appropriate to have our own Hygge Day right before Thanksgiving – the day we express or feel thankfulness. Hygge comes from the Danish language and means: creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere, enjoying the pleasant things in life with loved ones.
Good for the soul, comfort food! A Thanksgiving lunch made and prepared for all of us (our team and children) by our Central Kitchen Coordinator, Liv Benson, and her support, Paige Walters. As an extra bonus, Mr. Stephan, our Property Manager, read each classroom a "bedtime story" during lunch! The perfect complement to our Hygge Day = cozy food + cozy attire.
