Student Work Permit

While you're pursuing your studies as an international student, if you wish to work in a part-time capacity in Taiwan (either on campus or off campus) , you are required to apply for and obtain the work permit before starting work. Please note that if you hold a job without applying for the work permit, you may be fined for NT$30,000 to NT$150,000 and ordered to leave the country immediately.

The maximum work hours are 20 hours per week , except during summer and winter vacation. For applications made in the first semester, the work permit is valid until March 31 st of the next semester; for applications made in the second semester, the work permit is valid until September 30 th of the same year. The period validity of a work permit is six months at most. The application fee is NT$100.

Bank/ Postal Account Opening

Post Office

The post office provides both postal and banking services, including shipping and receiving , deposit and withdrawal, etc. Post offices are available on Campus ( 1F in Xiao-Fu ) and at the MRT Gongguan Station. To open a financial account in the post office, you should bring the original and a copy of both your passport, ARC, and at least NTD $10 for a deposit.

Bank Accounts

To open a bank account, bring the original and a copy of both your passport and ARC and at least NTD$1000 to HUA NAN or E.SUN BANK for the procedure (Nearest to the Campus). It’s strongly recommended that you apply for an ATM bank card, so you can use it to withdraw money from ATMs at any bank anytime. ATMs can be found pervasive and inside many convenience stores in Taipei.
