Dear Girlfriend, The love of my life and college sweetheart recently showed back up in my life and I am confused. The confusion is, I don’t know if he is playing games with me or not. Here is what’s going on. We had a son together when I was a sophomore in college and he was a junior. I attended an in-state college and he had a football scholarship to an out of state university. My mom kept my son until I graduated and he and I broke up after my son was born. He insinuated to friends of ours that he was not sure the baby was his. Well my son looks just like his baby pictures and everyone that sees him says “Wow, He looks just like his dad!” After graduation I came back home but he kept it moving. He lived with one woman after another but never married. My son is ten years old and I had not heard from him in two years. My son had not seen his face in four years. The last time we saw him, he gave me a hundred dollars and hasn’t sent a dime since. His mom has been a decent grandmother. She always remembers my son’s birthday and once he started school she would take him shopping for school clothes. Sometimes periodically she would buy him something... just because. Well three months ago, I put him on child support. Two weeks ago, he called and spoke to his son. He came to the city last week and took us both to dinner and it was wonderful. He has been calling and talking sweet ever since. He has even talked about us getting back together and I want to believe him. My sister told me that most men try to reestablish a relationship with their baby’s momma to try and stay off child support. Ironically, right after that he asked me to withdraw my claim because he did not want the state in his business. He also told me that a friend of his went to jail because he lost his job and couldn’t pay. I don’t want that for him but I do want to be able to take care of me and my child and I do need some help. I am so glad that he came back into our lives but he had not been any real help to us since my son was born. I had not heard from him until he got those papers. Is there a chance for our love to rekindle or do you think he is playing me to get off of child support? Signed, Confused By Love Dear Confused By Love, I believe in love and I would like to believe that your love can be rekindled. However, his timing looks like he might be playing that old keep screwing the baby’s momma to stay off child support game. Your sister is right, a lot of guys do this and a lot of women have been bamboozled by love. Regardless of how you feel, you do need to do what’s best for you and your child and get your child support. You should not have to sit around worrying, waiting, doing without, hoping a man will do right by you. Let the courts go ahead and handle it. They will be fair and there will be no need for any arguments between the two of you on how much you should get, the courts will determine that too. Now if your old boyfriend had been doing right by you all these years, I would say, leave the state out of your business. However, this man had been missing in action. If he is serious about being with you, it would not matter if he was on child support with you or not because it will all be coming right back to the two of you. Tell him you love him and you are so glad that he is back in your life and that you are so sorry it has come to this, but just in case he is not ready to let all his old ways go, you have got to secure your child’s future. He should be able to respect that. If not, you know he is full of bull manure. Hey!!!!

Retired NFL players Derrick Brooks, Emmitt Smith, and Reggie Johnson are just a few. Roy will host an annual boxing exhibition of rising champions, in an effort to stimulate Pensacola’s economy. He is also planning to work with the city to bring an annual old school hip hop and R&B Beach Festival bringing music lovers and sports fans to enjoy a bit of the Florida panhandle. It’s refreshing to see what the new Presidency will look like to the American people. The White House will go from a predominantly white administration to a rainbow coalition. The administration under Trump appointed as many White men into positions as they could with no new opportunities for women or people of color. Of the 196 federal judges that he appointed, not one was a person of color or a woman. What a damn shame! There was an influx of retirements from good men and women across government, including the FBI, State Department and CIA who could not sit by silently taking orders from a self serving, compromised President. However, to God be all the glory. Former VP Joe Biden is now President-Elect and Sen. Kamala Harris is now Vice President-Elect of the United States of America. They will now Build Back Better! Access to the political reigns is within reach to all American people... again. The economy may not take shape until 2023, but I expect Mitch McConnell to work across the aisle in passing legislation that is good for the American people. If he does, it will confirm for all that race was the issue during the Obama years and not political affiliation. It will be time out for racist overt/covert actions while using Trump as a distraction to cover their dirt. Page 4
One of the lessons that we can take from this election is America is still very much split in their morality when it comes to people of color and it showed in their vote. While some preferred hiding behind their desire for white supremacy with silence, others openly voiced their support for Black family members and friends by marching and speaking up for equality. They were instrumental in empowering the social justice movement. We have proven how powerful we are united. A Black man from South Carolina, Congressman Jim Clyburn, brought Biden back from the brink of defeat during the primaries when he endorsed him to the American people. When Biden selected his strongest primary debate contender, Kamala Harris, it was the catalyst that helped to carry him forward. To my Black sisters that brought the Democratic electorate to push Joe and Kamala into the White House, I salute you! Black women have taken center stage in the political arena of American politics oftentimes without the support of some chauvinistic Black men. Just a note to these brothers, it’s our women that support us and they damn well deserve our support! Now the real fight starts! The Electoral College needs to do their job on December 14th to confirm the vote. Georgians are in for a fight for the Senate and there, every vote matters. Lastly, the American people spoke loud and clear, Donald Trump, you’re fired!!

Chief Barbara Tripp Will Serve as the Interim Fire Chief
Three Tampa Fire Rescue Employees have been placed on Administrative Leave. Tampa Fire Chief Nick LoCicero, Division Chief of Training Susan Tamme and Training Officer John Muralt have been placed on administrative leave effective immediately, pending the outcome of an internal investigation. Allegations of misconduct and
a lack of supervisory oversight associated with the misconduct prompted the investigation. LoCicero and Tamme were placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with the City of Tampa’s administrative leave with pay policy. Muralt was relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. “The City will conduct a fair, thorough and expeditious investigation to determine the facts of what took place. I will take appropriate and swift action to address this issue, while ensuring our community and taxpayers continue to receive the high level of service they expect and deserve,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “This by no means is a reflection of the department as a whole. We hold all of our employees to high standards and this should not diminish the hard work and dedication of the men and women of our fire department who serve our community with dignity everyday.”

Accentuate The Positive
People will always have varying views of Barack Obama and his administration as is their right. Some
people like to stretch their rights. Much of that fact is where the divide between the extreme Right and the Left occurs. This includes assuming or even inventing whole sets of ‘facts’, even up to and including whether or not he is a true American citizen due to his extensively traveled youth. My own take deals with the fact that if he had not been so ‘American’ and so positive in his thinking, even in spite of so much that he... and we... have witnessed, there is no way he could have become president in the first place. His attitudes and instincts would have more clearly reflected so much of the institutional barriers we all have faced for years. And could very well have been a harder sell to the broader U S of A. To be sure, Mr. Obama’s experiences are unique and
make for a unique vantage-point and skill-set to navigate the affairs of the day. And so, I expect this effort to be a furtherance of that perspective. I expect that thematically it is almost perfectly pitched into the body of work he has already done. Starting with- ‘Dreams From My Father’ and ‘The Audacity of Hope’, to then talk about- ‘A Promised Land’ fits right in there with those and some of his most memorable speeches: ‘Fired up, Ready to Go’, “On Patriotism’ and ‘A More Perfect Union’. I, for one, am not some cock-eyed optimist, nor am I so adoring of the man that I don’t or can’t see the occasional warts on both this American system and Barack Obama himself. Celebrated as he is and rightfully so, Obama was not, nor could he ever have been above blame on every-

thing. In some instances there were glaring errors. The assassination of Moammar Khadafy leading to the fragmenting of Libya was a huge mistake. The residual effects have been catastrophic as the proliferation of human-trafficking from there and the political failed-state designation are further evidence, but then, which of us is perfect. I also think that a book of almost eight hundred pages is a mistake. People and especially young people, a large part of his target audience, want to move along faster than that. Even as I sort of ‘side-eye’ the concept of- ‘A Promised Land,’ with more of a ‘Forty Acres and a Mule’ kind of skepticism (remember that?). I can’t wait to get my copy of the book. Since they won’t change the map for us… ‘Let’s Go Change the World!’

BDJ Last Mile Scholarship Recipient Joins N-Touch Team Raymiya Thicklin is a multi-disciplinary artist with a focus on visual communications, dialogue, and sound. What started with a point and shoot camera Raymiya captured her daily life and eventually furthered her keen interest in documentation by attending The University of Central Florida to study Broadcast Journalism and Cinema Studies and earned her Bachelors degree.
Along the way she founded Miya Media an immersive media outlet, delivering quality and creative mediums, from videography to graphic design. She is passionate about the Black experience and preserving the creative minds of people of color, thus her decision to join the N-Touch family. She hopes with her skill and creativity, she can inspire others to be authentic and stay true to their story.
Congratulations Percy & Judy Johnson Percy Johnson, owner of Percy’s Window Tint and Auto Detailing in Tampa was recently married to Judy McTier a nurse from St. Petersburg, Fl.. Percy and Judy met at the Jazz House in Brandon, Florida on January 5th 2019. After dating over a year Percy became ill with Cov 19 and was hospitalized and put on a ventilater for 13 days. After his recovery Percy and Judy were married on November 14, 2020 at the Lucky Little Chapell in Las Vegas. “What God has join together let no man put asunder.”

Are you cheating on me?” “Honey don’t worry. Remember when I went to the horse race three weeks ago with my friends? Marylou was the name of the horse I was betting on. Satisfied, the wife continued doing the laundry. A few hours later, the wife smacked the husband with a frying pan again. “What was that for?” said the annoyed husband. “Your horse just called!”

If my mom was a hen and my dad was a chicken, I’d be a little chick. If my mom was a deer and my dad was a buck, I’d be a little deer. If my mom was a duck and my dad was a goose, I’d be a little duckling.” The bus annoyed bus driver stops the bus and turns to the boy saying, “What if your mom was a drunk and you dad was a bum?” The boy responds, “Then I’d be a bus driver.”
The Bookeeper
A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Guido, has cheated him out of $10,000,000. His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Guido would hear nothing so he would never have to testify in court. When the Godfather goes to confront Guido about his missing $10 million, he takes along his lawyer who knows sign language. The Godfather tells the lawyer, “Ask him where the money is!” The lawyer, using sign language, asks Guido, “Where’s the money?” Guido signs back, “I don’t know what you are talking about.” The lawyer tells the Godfather, “He says he doesn’t know what you’re talking about.” The Godfather pulls out a pistol, puts it to Guido’s head and says, “Ask him again or I’ll kill him!” The lawyer signs to Guido, “He’ll kill you if you don’t tell him.” Guido trembles and signs, “OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed at my cousin Bruno’s house.” The Godfather asks the lawyer, “What did he say?” The lawyer replies, “He says you don’t have the balls to pull the trigger!”

Two hillbillies were in a restaurant. having a bite to eat, talking about their moonshine operation. Suddenly, a woman at a nearby table, who is eating a sandwich, begins to cough. After a minute or so, it becomes apparent that she is in real distress. One of the hillbillies looks at her and says, ‘Kin ya swallar?’ The woman shakes her head no. Then he asks, ‘Kin ya breathe?’ The woman begins to turn blue and shakes her head no. The hillbilly walks over to the woman, lifts up her dress, yanks down her drawers and quickly gives her right butt cheek a lick with his tongue. The woman is so shocked that she has a violent spasm and the obstruction flies out of her mouth. As she begins to breathe again, the Hillbilly walks slowly back to his table.His partner says, ‘Ya know, I’d heerd of that there ‘Hind Lick Maneuver’ but I ain’t niver seed nobody do it.
The Anniversary Gift
Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really pissed. She told him, “Tomorrow morning, I want to see a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!” The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

I used to smoke pot before class. I walked in 10 minutes late with a bullshit excuse, slunk down at my desk and hoped that nobody asked me any questions. I was the best teacher EVER.
A woman was out golfing one day when she hit her ball into the woods. She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog in a trap. The frog said to her, “If you release me from this trap, I will grant you 3 wishes.” The woman freed the frog. The frog said, “Thank you, but I failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes that whatever you wish for, your husband will get 10 times more or better!” The woman said, “That would be okay.” For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world. The frog warned her, “You do realize that this wish will also make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis, that women will flock to.” The woman replied, “That will be okay because I will be the most beautiful woman and he will only have eyes for me.” So, KAZAM she’s the most beautiful woman in the world! For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world. The frog said, “That will make your husband the richest man in the world and he will be ten times richer than you.” The woman said, “That will be okay because what’s mine is his and what’s his is mine.” So, KAZAM she’s the richest woman in the world! The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered. “I’d like a mild heart attack.” Moral of the story: Women are clever. Don’t mess with them!
