Dear Girlfriend, My friend called and said she saw your facebook post about the Mayweather fight. She was all hyped and said, “let’s go.” She added that everything was so expensive and if we could find one more person to go, we could afford it. Well I called a few of my girlfriends to see if they wanted to go. 2 said yes. I was happy, that meant we could split the room 4 ways. I found a nice room (a junior suite) on South Beach which was about 20 minutes away from the fight and 20 minutes the other way from the Hardrock Casino where the weigh in was. When I told her she was ecstatic and everyone agreed on what we had to pay. She asked me to call and charge the tickets on my credit card too and said she would give me my money when she saw me. I told her, “no, let’s just wait until we get there to purchase our tickets just in case something went wrong or in case we met someone and got better seats at a better price.” Furthermore, I didn’t want all that on my credit card. We all agreed to the plan. My other friend agreed to drive because she had the newest, nicest 4 door car and we would split the gas. Well after all that, my girlfriend who initiated the whole trip pulled out because some guy she just started talking to said he did not want her to go and that he had plans for them. I told her we were going anyway because it was too late to cancel and even if we did a no show, my card would still be charged.. I reminded her that I got that expensive room based on her paying her 4th. So she still had to pay her portion. I also told her I would be by to get her 1/4 for the room before we left. She caught an attitude and said she felt she did not owe me anything because she was not going, nor staying in the room. I told her she did because I still had to pay because it was on my card and could not cancel...duh!. After that she did not answer the phone. We have been friends for a long time so I went by her place on our way out anyway, just in case she changed her mind. She always does. However, she did not answer the door but I saw her car. We all agreed on the trip based on our portion. Girlfriend she has a better job than me and gets child support from her ex who played pro ball. Everyone had figured out their portion and how much we would spend and based our decision on what we had agreed on. So now I am in the hole for her portion. They all handed me my money when they got in my car. Girlfriend, she is your biggest fan. What is your stance? Fight Friend Dear Fight Friend, I understand your position. She knows she is wrong but probably was hoping you and the other girls would split it 3 ways and let her off. Yes it is her bill. No one rises to low expectations. Don’t get angry and curse her out, that’s just a way of letting her off the hook. Then She will have an excuse to be mad, play mad and not give you anything. So stand your ground,calmly and let her conscious handle her. Give her a minute to recognize the error of her ways and she will pay you, if she is your true friend and values your friendship. I bet she will have your money before your credit card is billed. This is why I am extremely picky when it comes to travel buddies. For years I have traveled with friends and split our hotel rooms 2, 3, 4 ways. I have had access to some of the best events and every one always wanted to go. I have had my share of ladies that meant well but still pulled out leaving me holding tickets, their promised share of the hotel room, expenses on my credit card and dinner checks. So now I don’t play with my money. Lesson learned. Now I don’t hold tickets for anyone. I don’t care how much money they claim to have. I require everyone to pay up front before we leave the city and pay for everything before I charge a dime on my credit card. I don’t care how inconvenient it is or what excuse they make. Stay sweet. Your friend will come to her senses and give you your money. N-Touch News

The Temple Terrace Thunder AAU Basketball Team celebrated at the Rose Bar, with 100% of it’s graduating high school seniors heading to college. What started 7 years ago as a team of 5th graders, Temple Terrace Recreation Center Allstars, developed into a travel team winning local, state and national titles. General Manager, Kirk Kinsey, said “Our motto is the 3 A’s: Attitude, Academics and Athletics. Basketball was just the carrot to bring together boys from various backgrounds and commit to becoming a family. A family with the focus that the boys are future world changers and education is the key. These kids have a brotherhood bond and memories that will last a lifetime.

In all of Ybor City, there are not many restaurants that have an outdoor patio. Many use the sidewalk with a couple of tables and chairs tight up against their wall. dered a Cheeseburger with fries and a Corona. They delivered a quarter pound of fresh ground beef, cooked and seasoned exceptionally well which had my taste buds dancing on my tongue. Talking about Fresh. I was so comfortable I stayed to enjoy a cigar and a shot of cognac on the patio as I people watched taking in the new flow of Ybor City. Inside of this spacious, well decorated venue is two well stocked bars, a stage and seating for 150. As with all new businesses, starting up
can be difficult and following the 2020 Pandemic, we know all too well what that challenge brings. We have heard over and over how the restaurant industry needs our support so here’s your chance. Only thing is, they are booked a month out already so get your reservations in early. What I also liked about Daddy O’s is the parking in the back and on the side of the restaurant as well as a pull up and drop off in the rear. A couple were in a busy shopping center just before Mother’s Day The husband wandered off as she was standing in line, saying something about being back in a little bit. After getting through the line, the husband wasn’t back yet and since they still had more shopping to do, the wife called him on the mobile. The wife said, “Where are you?” He said, “ You remember the jewelers we went into about 10 years ago, and you fell in love with that diamond necklace? I couldn’t afford it at the time and I said that one day I would get it for you.” Tears started to flow down her cheeks and she got all choked up. “Yes, I do remember that shop,” she replied. “I’m in the pub next to that.”

I happened to run into an old school friend today. He started showing off, talking about his well paying job and expensive life style. Then he pulled out a photo of his wife and said, "She's beautiful, isn't she?" I said, "If you think she's gorgeous, you should see my girlfriend." He said, "Why? Is she a stunner?" I said, "No, she's an optician."
The Computer
Officers at a military installation were being lectured about a new computer. The training officer said the computer was able to withstand nuclear and chemical attacks. Suddenly, he saw that one of the officers had a cup of coffee and yelled, “There will be no eating or drinking in this room! You’ll have to get rid of that coffee.” The officer said meekly, “Sure, but why?” “Because a coffee spill could ruin the keyboard.”

Why Hillbillies Make Good Marines
Dear Ma & Pa, I am well. Hope you are. Tell brother Walt & brother Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before maybe all of the places are filled. I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m., but am getting so I like to sleep late. Tell Walt & Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing. Men got to shave but it is not so bad, they git warm water. Breakfast is strong on trimmings. Like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc..., but kind of weak on chops, potatoes, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie, and other regular food. But tell Walt & Elmer you can always sit between two city boys that live on coffee. Their food plus yours holds you till noon, when you get fed again. It's no wonder these city boys can't walk much. We go on "route" marches, which the Platoon Sergeant says are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it is not my place to tell him different. A "route march" is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys gets sore feet and we all ride back in trucks. The country is nice, but awful flat. The Sergeant is like a schoolteacher. He nags some. The Capt. is like the school board. Majors & Colonels just ride around & frown. They don't bother you none. This next will kill Walt & Elmer with laughing. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk and don't move. And it ain't shooting at you, like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes. A young man hired by a supermarket reported for his first day of work. A high-school geometry teacher started a lesson on triangles by reading a theorem. "If an angle is an exterior angle of a triangle, then its measure is greater than the measure of either of its corresponding remote interior angles." He noticed that one student wasn't taking notes and asked him why. "Well," the student replied sincerely, "I was waiting for you to start speaking English."
Boating
A young man who wants to see the world signs on to a steamship to be trained as a helmsman. He masters the classroom instruction and then starts his practical training on the wheel of the vessel. In his first lesson, the mate gives him a heading, and the young fellow holds to it. Then the mate orders, “Come starboard.” Pleased at knowing immediately which way starboard is, the young man leaves the helm and walks over to his instructor. The mate has an incredulous look on his face as the helm swings freely. Then, rather gently considering the circumstance, he asks politely, “Could you bring the ship with you?”
The Building Fund
A pastor got up one Sunday to preach and announced to his congregation: “I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program.” The pastor continued, “The bad news is, it’s still out there in your pockets.”

House Party
A priest was invited to attend a house party. Naturally, he was properly dressed and wearing his priest's collar. A little boy kept staring at him the entire evening. Finally, the priest asked the little boy what he was staring at. The little boy pointed to the priest's neck. When the priest finally realized what the boy was pointing at, he asked him, "Do you know why I am wearing that?" The boy nodded his head yes, and replied, "It kills fleas and ticks for up to three months."
The Scale
A lady noticed her husband standing on the bathroom scale, sucking in his stomach. Thinking he was trying to weigh less with this maneuver, she commented, “I don’t think that’s going to help.” “Sure it does,” he said. “It’s the only way I can see the numbers.”
Watching TV
An elderly couple were at home watching TV. Husband Phil had the remote and was switching back and forth between a fishing channel and the porn channel. Wife Sally became more and more annoyed and finally said, "For God's sake, Phil... leave it on the porn channel... you know how to fish!"
Keep On Laughing...Laughter Heals!
Living My Best Life Daryl and I rolled down to Miami for the Mayweather/ Paul Logan Exhibition fight at the Hard Rock Stadium. We had a great time and I am looking forward to our next excursion. This short impromptu trip almost didn’t happen but I was determined and it worked out for us. When I first heard about the Fight it was from Team Watson out of Los Angeles. Since the fight was in Florida, they called to see if I was coming down. I got excited and told my husband but he said he didn’t want to go because it was last minute and we had too much to do. He further added, it was going to cost too much, because last minute reservations are always sky high. Besides we had a paper to get out, Fresh Friday coming up and our anniversary was this month and we had travel plans for that. Well I still wanted to go and my mind was made up. So I checked the hotels and to my dismay, all my first choices were sold out and the others were just too high to consider. In the old days I always stayed on South Beach at The FountainBleu but that was $1,700 a night.... wayyy out of my budget. The hotels where my LA and Memphis buddies were staying were now $700 a night and sold out. I was referred to another hotel and it was $600 a night and sold out. So I began to conclude, maybe Daryl was right and I could not afford to go. Moving forward anyway, I tried to get my press passes to no avail. The public relations firm that was handling media did not call me back and registration was shut down the week before. Rationally speaking, we had a paper to get out, payroll to cover, I expected somewhere else that weekend and could not find an affordable hotel near the venue. However, I continued to justify my search by saying I had the ticket hookup for great seats, and I was ready to get away. So I kept looking. My friend, who was from Miami, told me to try a Marriott property in Aventura, a small city between Ft. Lauderdale and South Beach Miami. Ba bee, that was the charm! I found a hotel for $340 a night
that would make our accommodation about $750 with tax and hotel fees. I justified in my mind that it wasn’t bad because it wasn’t in Vegas, it was right here in my home state of Florida. We did not have to pay airfare, I could drive. I was determined to go even if I had to go alone. I knew the fight team and they knew me, so once I got there I would not be alone. So I made my reservation, packed my bags and prepared myself for the argument with my husband about spending frivolously. Although I knew he was right I wanted to go and was going with or without him. When he saw he could not deter me, he re-grouped and decided to join me. Road Trip! When we checked into the hotel we were quite pleased. It was centrally located. We called the fight team and met them at the Fountain Bleu for drinks and wings. South Beach nightlife was booming. There were no signs of a pandemic or fear of being exposed to one. It took us 30 minutes to get up the driveway of the hotel from the street, so when the valet approached the car, we jumped at the opportunity to get out. We were amazed at how expensive it was to valet park and all the people lined up to get in this nightclub called LIV. That night we enjoyed each other reflecting on who and all we saw and thanked God we had each other’s company. Exhausted from a fun evening we slept late, skipped breakfast and did lunch at Bonefish. We stopped and shopped briefly, got back to the hotel so that we could rest to reserve our energy for our late night in Miami. Even though the fight would only last 8 rounds. We were a little worried about Mayweather because his challenger was 10 years younger, much taller, his body was chiseled and arms were longer. It was rumored that Mayweather was being paid $10 million to step in the ring. It rained a bit but that did not put a damper on the night, but it did on my hair. By the time the fight was over, my hair had swollen to a raggedy afro. But my husband did not care, we were together in Miami, living our best life!
