Dear Girlfriend, I have been married for 7 years now My husband is a firefighter. My problem is, he never has time for me. With him having the type of job where he sleeps at the station regularly, I’ve even gotten use to not having him in my bed. He seems to always be at work....chasing fires (as he puts it). The fact is, I’m pretty sure fires aren’t the only thing he is chasing because there is very little going on with us. I am lucky if I get anything once a month. That’s not enough for me. I feel I am too young and vibrant to give up that part of our relationship this early in our marriage. Im dreaming about other men and thinking about cheating. Do you think we can rekindle our flame or has this fire been extinquished? Signed Feeling Burned in Brandon Dear Feeling Burned in Brandon, No, that fire has not been extinguished. It’s just dormant right now. All marriages have their ups and downs, the valley and the hills. The low points make you appreciate the climaxes more. Now if he was your boyfriend I’d tell you to move on, but do not give up that easy on a marriage. See, he’s not just another boyfriend messing up, he’s your husband being negligent. He’s the boyfriend that thought enough of you to make a commitment, to ask you to marry him. And he not only asked you to marry him, but he followed through. A lot of men will talk marriage to a woman to get them where they want them, but never follow through or come up with the ring. That man loved you enough to do both. For this reason alone you have got to give this a whole-hearted effort to try and make it work. What about you? Have you gained weight? Are you dressing up for bed? Are you wearing appealing under wear? Men are very visual, thats why theporn industry does so well. Maybe you need to get some outside interest to keep you busy until things heat back up, but don’t cheat. That can open a door tthat may be too hard to close. and totally destroy your marriage. Recognize that your husband could have some health issues causing a problem with his blood flow. Has he gained weight? You should let him know you are worried about him and his cardio vascular health. The problem with a lot of marriages is some men get married when they have done everything and are ready to settle down. They think that the good times are over. Well it’s vice versa for women. Most women feel I’m married now, I can try some of everything with this man, because he’s mine and he loves me. Well brothers I hope this serves as a wake up call. When you marry, it’s not over, it’s only just begun and should get progressively better. Men do not take your women for granted. Don’t give away all the good juice and have nothing left to satisfy the one you truly love or you may find someone else doing what you are supposed to be doing. Because what it takes to get us, it takes to keep us. The older a woman gets, the bolder she gets and more comfortable she becomes with her sexuality. All that she would not do back then, she may do today and more. If you don’t believe me, ask a woman over 40 you know. I am more than certain with a little effort and confidence you can rekindle that fire and turn the flicker to a flame. My advice to you is, pay your self some attention and maybe he will pay you some. If this doesn’t work, always remember, what one man won’t do, another one will. Try to be faithful but remember you are responsible for your happiness. This is your life.

STOP MURDERING US!!!
By Daryl Johnson (DJ CEO)
FROM THE TREE TO THE KNEE Southern trees bear a strange fruit Blood on the leaves and blood at the root Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees. Sung by Billie Holiday in 1939, “Strange Fruit” was written by Abel Meeropol to protest the lynchings of Black Americans. Murdering Black people has been a source of entertainment When looking at old pictures you would think it is as American as apple pie and cotton. Lynchings were woven into the psyche of White Americans. Picnics and lynchings were entertainment at the expense of Black Americans A 1930 editorial from the Raleigh News and Observer described it best, “Whole families came together, mothers and fathers, bringing even their youngest children. It was the show of the countryside – a very popular show.” White men of my generation, as children, sat on the shoulders of their fathers and grandfathers watching Black
bodies swing from sturdy boughs, while the city photographer captured the moment to publish in the city newspaper. Today, They are still being “entertained” by the lynchings of our people by the millions of cellphone photographers and videographers displaying this horrendous crime. Just recently, on two separate occasions, Black men have been found hanging from trees in California. The history of the police started with good ole white folk catching runaway slaves and through several mutations, developed into a fully funded militaristic type organization. This funding now sits at $100 billion for policing with an additional $80 billion for incarceration. Let those numbers sink in for a minute. While you think about those numbers let me tell you how many older white Americans that I know personally think. My neighbors, ages between 60 and 80, both believe that even though Trump is an asshole, he’s doing a good enough job to keep
him in office. Some believe that even though he is an embarrassment to white America, and Black America, he is still good enough to keep in office. with no consideration of how he is affecting race relations. Supported by the KKK, this President promotes division so to my neighbors Black Lives Don’t Matter, only the ones they know.... Maybe? Hate crimes against African Americans is an ongoing fight that we are subjected to. The history of racist ideas can be traced back to the 1400s. In the book by Ibram X Kendi, STAMPED FROM THE BEGINNING, to paraphrase, white Spaniards wanted to take the trade routes of Muslims because they were envious of the success Muslims were enjoying. Fast forward a few hundred years and you get Rosewood and Tulsa. Now let’s think about all the old ass politicians that are still in place and how their policies continue to reflect and perpetrate an oppressive state for African Americans. In my mind, there will be a continued pace to maintain the status quo even after we do all this protesting, unless we vote. Elections have consequences. I am proud to say and stand with young socially conscious Americans
“No Justice No Peace”. Don’t let these images and videos of us being killed be entertainment. Instead know that the photos are here for all to see the deadly truth of the past, still prevails. What shall we do? Be unafraid! Be vocal and vote! To avoid long lines Call and request your mail in Ballot. “I’m a young black man/ doing all that I can/ to stand,” Keedron sings in the video. “Oh, but when I look around/ and I see what’s being done to my kind/ every day, I’m being hunted as prey/ My people don’t want no trouble/ We’ve had enough struggle/ I just want to live/ God, protect me/ I just want to live/ I just want to live.” written by Johnetta Bryant, song by Keedron Bryant

Back Home When I graduated from college, I had but one mission: do whatever it takes to avoid going back home to live with my parents. If I could accomplish that one mission, then that would make me feel like a success. I know some people are already angered by this statement. As misguided as it may have been, it was once my truth and guiding principle. For a while, it took me very far and gave me the grit to be financially independent, free of student debt, and able to never ask my parents for anything substantial to support my life. Before you cast judgment on my ideals, let me help you understand where I fall in the Johnson-family pecking order. I am the youngest of four children in a family of six. My mother wailed when she found out that she was pregnant with me, because she never wanted to have more children than her mother who had three children. (Some of you know my only brother died. Be careful what you ask for.) Four kids do not fit neatly into the backseat of an average car. And it was rumored that I ruined my siblings’ college funds. The truth of that assertion has yet to be proven, but it was enough to give me a firm philosophy of life: at all costs, do not be a burden to your family. Yes, children have the capacity to think this way. I was getting straight A’s and breaking records in track and field with one objective in mind: by any means necessary, I will get a full scholarship to someone’s university. I will be an asset and not a liability. By virtue of my birth, I felt that my family had sacrificed enough, stretched enough, accommodated me enough. No one ever said it, but I just never wanted to be a cause of concern. As the youngest child, you see the struggle—the college calls home from kids who needed co-signers for student loans or called to lament that they lost
their scholarship or who moved off campus and needed help with rent. You witness what it takes to make it all work in the end. If you see it three times, like I did, you ought to get the message. And so, I managed to complete the International Baccalaureate program at Hillsborough High School, receive a full scholarship to study in-state at Florida A&M University, and stayed on campus all four years of undergrad. I never signed a loan, and thanks to my meal plan, roommates, and college boyfriend, I never went hungry. In fact, I owe a lot of wonderful people and organizations for my getting out of Florida A&M debt free, but I digress. I married soon after graduation, moved across the country to work in government, then across the world to work in embassies. As far as I was concerned, mission accomplished. Hey, look Ma, I made it! You’re waiting for it, right? You already know that all the plans I had for my life came tumbling down eventually…but it did not start with coronavirus. Instead, it was something far less sinister: changes to foreign policy. I bet you did not see that one coming. As I laid out in my article in May, I planned to accompany my husband to Iraq where I had been assigned to work my usual gig: citizenship and immigration issues. Well, the sorting hat (if you haven’t read Harry Potter books, please Google this reference) decided otherwise. Off my husband went to Iraq, while all spouses, by the order of the Secretary of State were told to stay behind for their safety. I soon came to appreciate that decision. You may have already read about the season of uncertainty I endured traveling around the world, working in three different countries, and living and eating in fancy hotels. Obviously, it was not all bad, and at least, I still had my greatest treasure: my autonomy. Being on my own had a liberating power on my life.
Now, let’s talk about where it brought me—back here, back home…the thing I had avoided most for the last nine years. Though it took a few days to adjust, the one word I would use to describe these three months living back at home is full. My spirit is full. I have watched Family Feud with my grandmother, exercised routinely with my sister, listened to audio books with my post-surgery father, given my mother the luxury of time for herself, and I have met weekly with a virtual group of women I adore. I celebrated my eighth wedding anniversary, my 31st birthday, my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day. I have not been home for these many milestones since I was 17 years old. Is every day easy? Please read above how many people live here, and you can imagine the challenges we face. Still, it is worth it. At the end of April, I was offered an opportunity to return to Washington, D.C. to work on a government task force. The lure of perceived productivity and significance of a high-profile assignment tugged at me, but in the end, I declined. I sensed that if I had left home then, the only person who would have benefited from my absence would have been me and marginally so. I value my ability to be present with my family while my husband completes his tour in Iraq even to contribute to the minutiae of living in a multi-generational home. I had to release the idea of being back home with my parents as a “failure.” I believe God is rebuilding, restoring and redeeming me. I believe when I look over my life, I will treasure these days and the people I have had more time to love. Aside from the serious contradictions of being back in the United States, I am soaking in every moment until my husband’s safe return home. For now, this is where I belong, and as long as God is with me, I am still a success.

Silent Assassins: America Under the Knee of Two Viruses
By: Ray KASH Woods #CREAM
On May 25th, 2020 while our nation was still engulfed in the aftermath of having to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on our lives, George Floyd, a 46 year old African American man, died in Minneapolis, Minnesota(1). George Floyd died with his face down on the pavement bleeding from his nose, handcuffed and restrained under the pressure of 3 officers. Two at the ankles, and one officer with his knee buried firmly on his neck. Many reports have since then stated he died pleading for his deceased mother while proclaiming he couldn’t breath, but to the contrary, when I watched the slue of videos posted online of such a public murder and widely denounced abuse of police authority, I saw a man that died in silence. I saw a man that died under the pressure of a grown man’s body weight being applied firmly on his neck, in silence. For over 4 and a half minutes George Floyd lied silent on a city street under the knee of an officer of the law. For over 4 and a half minutes George Floyd laid in silence, with no apparent sign of life or desire to resist arrest. However, it was not just George Floyd’s silence and lifeless body still being restrained at
the ankles and under the weight of a firm knee of an officer of the law that was eerie. It was the silence of the officer committing the atrocity that left a stain on my memory for years to come. It was the look in his eyes. I didn’t see joy. I didn’t see fear. I saw intent to subdue a captive by obstructing that captive’s ability to breath, and again, I watched that action without hearing one definitive word from the apparent murdering officer himself. I heard nothing from the 3 officers restraining George Floyd for 4 and a half minutes while George Floyd laid in silence, with no apparent sign of life or desire to resist arrest. Yes, there was a 4th officer on the scene that was very vocal as he stood guard over their prey, but the 3 officers that actually physically held George Floyd in restraints remained silent. I heard nothing from four souls engulfed in what would soon be a firestorm of backlash, because while those 4 souls left a stain of silence on my memory that I may never forget, the CHILDREN that looked on in disbelief did not. The CHILDREN plead for officers of the law to let George Floyd breathe. A man that identified himself as someone who had trained in “the academy” pleaded
the officers to take their knee off of George Floyd’s neck, and ironically a woman who identified herself as a Minneapolis City Firefighter pleaded that the arresting officers take their knee off George Floyd’s neck. Neither seemed to matter. Even as the woman who had captured over nine minutes of very damning evidence on video asked if they had just killed George Floyd, the arresting officers still continued to restrain their captive in silence. Even as children and a self-identified Minneapolis City Firefighter pleaded with the arresting officers to check for a pulse, the arresting officers kneeled in silence as if mesmerized by the flames of the firestorm that would result. Just three days later a very literal fire would engulf the 3rd precinct of Minneapolis’ Police Department. And, a wildfire of protests would inflame many major cities throughout all 50 of this nation’s United States, Mexico City, Rio de Janerio, Buenos Aires, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, Haifa, East Jerusalem, and several cities throughout Canada, Nigeria, Kenya, Australia and New Zealand thus far. The European Union even went as far as to say it was “shocked and appalled” by the death of Floyd, calling it “an abuse
of power” and warned against further excessive use of force. Still as the flames of protests burn brightly around the world, as CHILDREN plead for justice for George Floyd, it’s the silence of those four men engulfed in its igniting spark that have left a stain that I can not forget. See something, say something. In memory of George Floyd, Speak Out. Stem the spread of COVID-19 and stop the spread of racism. (1) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_ of_George_Floyd

Floyds’ Flashbacks: Keep the Faith Before there was any idea of COVID-19, there was I, Floyd Jerome Smith, one year ago, June 18, 2019, entering into the emergency room at the Medical center of Trinity not knowing that my life would change drastically. I knew I wasn’t feeling well but I didn’t know how severe the issue was. Doctors said I came in with double pneumonia and I was operating only off of 15% of my lungs. My chances to live was very slim. From that point, I entered into a coma for approximately two weeks. Little did I know, God had already told my sister Kimberly Morrissette to drive 10 hours just to come see about her brother. After seeing me in the image above, She then called the family to Florida to let them know of the my situation. The doctors told my parents, Willie Floyd and Fannie Smith to get things together to prepare for my funeral because there was no chances of me living. From there, The family then went
into prayer mode. They shut me in my room in ICU, anointed my body and began to praise God for what he was going to do. Within moments, I started to wake up. I was weak and confused but somehow God spared my life. They even surgically implanted a trache in my throat. I was unable to speak or sing at all. To me, the road ahead would be very long but hopeful.
I stand today, one year later, to let each of you know that God can bring you from the brink of anything regardless of how bad it gets. God took 15% of my lung function and brought me back to life. It was nothing I did so special but he used me to show my family, the world and myself that He is a HEALER. Later, the trache was removed within two weeks. I went home after over a month in the Hos-

pital to recover. So hear me and hear me well, God does exist and He is stronger than you and I could ever imagine. I thank Him for my life, my health and my strength. I wouldn’t be here without Him. In this pandemic I’ve seen so many die and suffer but I know God is in control. You and I have to step back, serve Him and watch Him move. Hats off to my Family, friends and the staff at the Medical center at Trinity. I’m alive and I thank God for the experience. This new chapter will be greater than my past. God bless. Floyd Smith is originally from Scooba Mississippi. For years he served at Bible Base Fellowship Church under Rev. Arthur T Jones as their Graphic Designer and Praise & Worship Leader. He was fondly called “Flava Floyd” the hype man Floyd Smith and is a very intricate part of the N-Touch Family
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7

The Eulogy In a small town in Alabama, there were two brothers, who over the course of many years, cheated, swindled, robbed and generally stole from everyone that they ever did business with. The entire town and surrounding community reviled and despised these two brothers as everyone was aware of just how disreputable and dishonest they were. One day, one of the brothers mysteriously died. Although they hgad never attended church, the one remaining brother went to the local pastor and offered vast sums of money if he would come to the funeral and say the appropriate words, AND, a large bonus, but ONLY if he would – during the course of the eulogy, refer to his brother as “a Saint”. The pastor was troubled by the re-
quest, however, it was a very poor church and the church desperately needed repairs. The Parishioners had heard about the pastor’s dilemma and were curious as to what he would do. The funeral began, the church was packed and the pastor started with the usual prayers and followed the rites and traditions as required by the church’s teachings. In closing, after referring to the man in the box, he paused and turned to face the remaining brother. He began with, “As you well know, the departed was an awful individual who robbed, cheated, swindled and stole from everyone he ever did business with...” “ However, compared to his Brother, he was a Saint!”
The Highlight of Birthday? Birthday So, today I turned 68,. Celebrating alone I went over to the local gun shop to get a colt 9mm handgun for home-personal protection. When I was ready to pay for the pistol and ammo, the cashier said, “Strip down, facing me,” Making a mental note to complain to the wackos running amok, I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I
found out she was referring to how I should place my credit card in the card reader! As a senior citizen, I do not get flustered often but this time it took me a while to get my pants back on. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to seniors a little more clear. I still don’t think I looked that bad! I just need to wear underwear more often.
Senior Citizens
I was in this long line at 7:45AM today at the grocery store that opened at 8AM for seniors only. A young man came from the parking lot and tried to cut in at the front of the line, but an old lady beat him back into the parking lot with her cane. He returned and tried to cut in again but an old man punched him in the gut, then kicked him to the ground and rolled him away. As he approached the line for the 3rd time he said, “If you don’t let me unlock the door, you’ll never get in there!”
Last Wishes
A priest asks the convicted murderer at the electric chair, “Do you have any last requests?” - “Yes,” replies the murderer, “please hold my hand...”
Peanuts
An old grandma brings a bus driver a bag of peanuts every day. First the bus driver enjoyed the peanuts but after a week of eating them he asked: “Please granny, don’t bring me peanuts anymore. Have them yourself.”. The granny answers: “You know, I don’t have teeth anymore. I just prefer to suck the chocolate around them.”
Staying Safe
When my wife starts to sing I always go out and do some garden work so our neighbors can see there’s no domestic violence going on.
Doctor Vsists
A doctor accidentally prescribes his patient a laxative instead of a coughing syrup. - Three days later the patient comes for a check-up and the doctor asks: “Well? Are you still coughing?” - The patient replies: “No. I’m afraid to.” Patient: Oh Doctor, I’m starting to forget things. - Doctor: Since when have you had this condition? - Patient: What condition?
The Gambler
My wife divorced me recently because I’m a compulsive gambler. All I can think about now is how to win her back.
Riddle
What do you get when you cross a bunny and a Rottweiler? - Just the Rottweiler.
The Gym
I can’t believe I forgot to go to the gym today. That’s 7 years in a row now.

I am a Black Family Man Supporting Black Businesses By Daryl Johnson Since the pandemic we have not been doing the restaurant thing and have been pretty much quarantined. The other night about10:00pm I had a craving for a barbeque sandwich. I spoke out loud and of course everyone else started chiming in with their desires too. My youngest daughter said I want some ice cream, my mother in law said we got any popsicles and my wife said, “Baby what do you want?” I just wanted some barbeque, but settled for some soup and chicken. However, the next day when we left the safety of our home for very intense physical therapy (PT) on my right knee, I said let’s get some barbeque.” She responded, “where can we get some barbeque out here.” Since the most recent public murders of Black men we have decide to embark on the national boycott of spending our restaurant dol-
lars only with Black owned restaurants. However, we have found that to be more than a challenge in suburbia Tampa, Florida. Our long time associates, Power Couple Johnny and Pam Smith, are the owners of Jazzy’s Barbeque and have been serving the Tampa Bay area for 20 years. Located at 5703 W. Waters Avenue between Anderson and the Veterans expressway, we were there in 20 minutes. We ordered 2 pulled pork dinner plates and 3 pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw to go for the crew at home. We were all very pleased. Johnny is a retired Buccaneer and started the business while his wife Pam, whom had been a Swashbuckler (cheerleader) worked with me for years at the post office. Now their business, Jazzy’s Barbeque, is under the capable hands of their son Kaden. I love it when I see fathers re-
linquishing the family businesses over to their children and the children taking them to the next level creating generational weath. Those families ususally have the strength to stand strong in their communities in times of controversy without fear of losing their jobs. Being raised in Memphis, under the protection of a Black Village, when we got in trouble at school, the teachers called our parents not the police because they actually cared about our futures. Manufacturing workers, educators and family owned businesses made up what was our middle class. Like Tulsa Oklahoma, Black Wall Street, our lives were encompassed by Black owned stores, insurance companies, gas stations, soul food restaurants, fish markets, boutiques and of course funeral homes. We supported each other in life and death and I’m getting back to my roots.
